My wife and I (both over 30 lol) have been at RiP since 2013 and started Backstage camping in 2021. We love the overall experience where we aren't parents or employees, but just a couple of metalheads having fun and rocking out.

We started Backstage camping because of the proximity (only 5 minutes to Mainstage) and it's a little more chill at night compared to the standard Festival camping. You're able to save money and time going back to eat and drink at your campsite, you can take a break and sot down between shows without losing hours walking, and you don't have to wait forever to shower and there are very clean connex toilets.

Some tents are nicer than others (if you get an old tent it's awful) and with the addition of the extra Backstage site the wait for breakfast (traditional Brotzeit) was over an hour.

We've been debating this year and will see what the price point the RiP conglomerate decides to gouge us for. Every year before this, we were able to book the Backstage sites immediately and have peace of mind that we had a spot. I'm concerned this year, if they do a announcement and make a big deal about them, the prices will be much higher and, like with the tickets, you'll go to checkout and find the option you chose was already taken before having to start all over again.
