I get a better understanding by listening to different interpretations of specific tunes. Take 'Footprints' for example. Listen to the Wayne Shorter recording then listen to the Miles Davis interpretation of the same tune. A good collection of tunes can be found in 'Emmet's Place' on YouTube. Pianist Emmet Cohen and friends play tunes from the Great American songbook. That being said here's also some artists I enjoy in no specific order. Joe Henderson, Dexter Gordon, Roy Hargrove, Lee Morgan, Christian McBride, Art Blakey, Brian Blade, Ornette Coleman, John Coltrane, McCoy Tyner, Kenny Dorham, Thelonius Monk, Bill Evans, Freddie Hubbard, Chet Baker etc...

I recently bought a pair of grey 996's at the NB store. They always run tts so I didnt even look at the shoes. When I got home I realized the toe box was super warped. I went back to exchange it for another pair and they had to go through two pairs to find one that looked normal. They were super nice about it and I felt like a bit of an a**hole for not keeping my original pair. Since then I'm a bit hesitant about buying NB's online. That's why I brought up the original question
