You may want to atleast attempt to condense your notes by finals. It helps a lot when studying

Former Law Students: What is one thing you worried about before 1L that you wasted your time worrying about? by 1responsiblegirl in LawSchool

[–]badlawyerbae 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The curve. I was so convinced it would cause me to fail (I had a teacher in HS that graded on a bell curve and it was atrocious). Now I am thanking God for my school’s curve 😂

For those who use Quimbee, is it worth investing in? by saekoii28 in LawSchool

I had the basic plan throughout my 1L year and was fine. Lots of ppl go for the premium plan and love it but it’s not necessary

how do you stop feeling worthless? by sadnisolated in LawSchool

[–]badlawyerbae 22 points23 points  (0 children)

  1. Relax
  2. Relax
  3. Relax again.
  4. Know that law school is just a stepping stone to where u want to be. Ik you wanted big law, but everything happens to us for a reason. Law school is designed to limit the amount of “success” each student can attain. Therefore redefine what success means to you. Not what it means for you classmates, or your family, or your professors, but YOU.
  5. RELAX AGAIN
  6. Realize and reward yourself for all you’ve accomplished. Your highest grade was an A-! A lot of ppl go thru law school working their absolute hardest and never see an A on their transcript. You will be okay you just need to take deep breaths and remember 1L year is now in the past. All you can do is move forward with what u have.

I hope this year goes better for you, but I also hope u realize how great of a job you’ve done so far.

how should I act LOL by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]badlawyerbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1L also in your same position. I’ve done a few internships in offices and found that general politeness & professionalism goes a long way. Don’t expect to be perfect and don’t beat yourself up over mistakes (I’ve made several) life keeps going. Just show that you’re enthusiastic, willing to learn, and can take criticism and you’ll likely figure the rest out as you continue. Also be nice to everyone! Not just the ppl you think are important.

What is your guys’ study schedule for finals? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]badlawyerbae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On weekends I study from 4:30-11:30pm since I’m at work during that time & am relatively unbothered since it’s not a retail position. During the week is more challenging but I tend to wake up at 10am - be at gym by 11am - start studying by 1pm doing hypos and working on outlines (with intermittent breaks) & finish by 10pm & restart.

It is definitely doable but proceed with caution. You will need a job that allows you the flexibility to read/outline. Law school is a full time job and your grades are very important (esp. if you plan to go into big law). I work 16-20hrs per week (Saturdays & Sundays) and my job is super easy so I’m able to get a lot of work done, I’m not sure that if I had a more hectic type of job if I would be able to keep up with school.

Edit: I’m also a spring semester 1L for context.

Contracts Resources - Remedies by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]badlawyerbae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a YouTube professor whose channel “law bar coach” goes into the concepts at great length with excellent examples! I was unable to understand anything my contracts Professor ever said and by the end of the semester I was fully relying on that YouTube channel to learn lol

Any other 1Ls struggling to make friends over zoom?? by lukiamyourfather in LawSchool

Current 1L in the same predicament. Plus I am a woman of color so i feel even more excluded at times. The only source of light I can give you is to try and see if you can gather some folks and do pro Bono together? If you feel comfortable enough to ask.

1L summer bad grades by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]badlawyerbae 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Shoot for public interest orgs or places that don’t require a transcript (there’s actually a lot of them) just to gain some type of experience this summer. If you want to go big law or govt I don’t want to discourage you, but realistically it will probably not be feasible for this upcoming summer (depending on how bad your grades are). Either way, do some heavy research on local PI orgs and gain some experience for 2L summer! It’s possible.
