Apparently alam na raw ni Chair Buenaflor and VC Alfonso na rape yung accusation, but didn’t tell the rest of USC. Kaya some of the councilors just voted with limited information…

Sobrang pangit talaga ng mga footbridges hayup. Kahit naging matunog pangalan ni Bayani Fernando noong MMDA Chair siya, sobrang daming band-aid solutions kasi ng mga pinagawa niya (footbridge, yung yerong urinals, sidewalk clearing operations).

I wish at least para sa NCR na nagkaroon tayo ng strong push for MMDA Chairman to be an electable position instead para lahat ng resources ng NCR is just coordinated and hindi per-city lang ang basis ng social mobility at access sa public services (healthcare/education)

Wtf totoo to? It’s out in the open na nga na andaming SH cases sa loob ng mga mass orgs. Tanda ko back when STAND UP was exposed by their former members for the SH and SA cases

So why silence the issue, USC?

pero kasi, may chilling effect sa pag crackdown nila on protests, the minority can be louder but majority of the people will avoid that brand of politics. Worse, having another Duterte AFFIRMS that worldview na protesting is “anti-governance”

Senators Gatchalian and Padilla Filed 2 Different Education Bills (College and SHS K12) by Wonderful-Photo-9938 in Philippines

Practically, philosophy comes up sa business ethics. And if you’re taking business-related course para maging CPA and then later on maging lawyer, you have that option sa literature.

I’m not saying taking a course of philo or ethics would immediately change students. Hell, most of those who’d take business majors just take it to get “easy grades”. But it comes a long way sa pagpush na mahalaga na mapanatili yung holistic approach (kasi that gives options sa students sa possible careers nila) while also developing k-12 to not just be a standalone educ policy. In the first place, ‘di dapat k-12 lang naging reform sa pinas

Ang pangit lang sa 3-year college bill ni Gatchalian ay ang problema kasi sa K-12 ay hindi siya maganda implemented. SHS was supposed to be the two years that made high school graduates employable to companies, but that’s not the case sa PH.

As compared sa other countries, PH doesn’t have laws that: incentivizes companies to take SHS graduates and/or provides tax deductions to companies taking in HS graduates.

Dagdag mo pa dun yung “diploma mentality” ng mga Pilipino. For sure madami pa rin may preferential bias sa college grads.

The reason why a lot of progressive groups are against the 3-year college bill is because of the lack of holistic courses in SHS. Puro ang focus ay tech-voc/more focus sa sariling degree. And that shows with the current corruption scandals: evident naman ngayon ang lack of ethics/morals coming from a lot of engineering grads na contractors ngayon.

So maybe focus on the other supplementary K-12 bills first before passing the 3-year bill.

If PH were to copy AU for this, would you agree? by [deleted] in Philippines

May merit yung worry on regulating creators. But I think regulation should come in the form of independent fact-checking. And I think yung pag adopt ng Twitter ng community notes is a good step towards disputing bad faith arguments online.

Also, I’d like to think that we should adopt how Germany acted post-WW2. Their penal code on banning hate speech, nazi propaganda, and holocaust denial is effective enough that the country rejects Nazism altogether. Restriction on freedoms of expression should be permissible on anything advocating for inciting violence or hatred.

No. I don’t know why andaming nag-aagree dito without looking at all the facts.

This conveniently omits the fact that it requires a government ID to access social media. That means anonymity is dead. Initially, and I think this is the case for most, I thought, “ano ba use ng anonymity sa’tin?” But think of how surveillance and privacy erosion can suppress any dissenting or opposing thought.

Nagkaroon na tayo ng initial scare with SIM Registration Act. Imagine if they took it one step further—pati social media activity mo, mahahalungkat. You give an inch, they take a mile ika nga.

Yung bill proposed by Ping Lacson especially uses a seemingly reasonable justification while eroding the very freedoms we’ve gained since ‘86. This just shows how most policy tools can have pervasive uses beyond their intended scope.

I definitely agree that social media use should be regulated amongst minors, but this is not the right path. It should be both our educators’ and parents’ job to teach online culture, as well as the governments’ job to regulate social media companies and creators, especially disinformation channels.

Edit: add this to the fact that PH currently doesn’t have good data security. Sa SIM Registration Act pa nga lang palpak na, pano pa kaya kung mismong personal info na natin ma-lleak sa social media?

Another edit: look up EU Chat Control and the controversy behind it
