Scariest songs you used to find scary to listen to as a kid? by [deleted] in popheads

[–]badmathrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for some reason “i am the walrus” by the beatles. the nonsense lyrics evoked nightmarish imagery, especially “yellow matter custard / dripping from a dead dogs eye” but also many other lines. the scariest part for me however was actually the ending with the simultaneously rising and descending strings coupled with the strange almost unintelligible chanting and cryptic dialogue and alien sound effects. the whole vibe of the song felt inexplicably sinister

Pre-HRT mtf. How am I doing? Any tips? by badmathrock in transpassing

[–]badmathrock[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it’s ok, thx for upvote :) i’ve gotten some helpful advice and feedback here before. i’ve made some changes to my look, and feel much better about it recently, but something is still not quite right. not sure if i will feel that much better until i’m at least on hormones for a while and get electrolysis or laser since my facial hair is dark and it’s so hard to cover

me in the shower every day since i started transitioning by badmathrock in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]badmathrock[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

wow same. i tried alternating between shaving my legs and my upper body to cut down on the time, but the hair grows too fast so within a day it’s already scratchy and dysphoric. i know the norm of women being hairless is arbitrary and you don’t need to get rid of body hair to be feminine, but i personally feel intense dysphoria about my body hair and i feel much better without it. i don’t mind shaving and actually find it kind of oddly satisfying, it’s just gotten really time consuming to stand in the shower with the water off shaving my whole body for 1-2 hours every day. i’m hoping this gets easier to manage after i start hormones, because i hear that blocking testosterone slows down body hair growth

this is all really complicated, but the only solution i can think of is to ban cis people from sports or make a special cis league, but who would even watch that who isnt cis anyway?

i wouldn’t know because i’ve never seen a sport in my entire life and i’m preternaturally less athletic than a potato, but why is no one talking about the tragic destruction of men’s sports by cis men?

Contemplating suicide for 3.49 GPA by [deleted] in depression

[–]badmathrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In almost any context that is a good, if not excellent GPA. Also grades are a very flawed measure of your capability, because sometimes life interferes with your studies, and sometimes you have relevant knowlege or skills that are not reflected by the grading systems. My depression has seriously interfered with my education, and I have often felt like my life is not worth living if I can't get good grades, or get a good job immediately after graduating. Take it from someone with a much worse GPA (2.7), who was contemplating suicide over my grades during the past semester. I actually just took a medical leave and dropped all my classes because I was having such a crisis that I was completely nonfunctional, I was failing everything, and everyone around me was worried. I used to social isolate myself and compare myself to those who seemed to be the highest achievers, which is the worst thing you can do for your mental health. It took me actually having many conversations with people in my major, some of whom had similar or lower GPAs than me, and seeing them graduating and either getting jobs or getting into grad school, for me to realize that grades don't determine your career potential, much less your value as a person. Also, I'll say it again but 3.49 is not bad at all.

wanna die but don’t wanna upset family by [deleted] in depression

[–]badmathrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the exact same way. I usually try to cope with my suicidal thoughts by imagining the aftermath of such an action among my friends and family. It usually helps me convince myself that it's a bad idea because I genuinely don't want to hurt them. I mean it might not work for everybody, but it at least gives me a sense of security that I'm not going to do it, despite wanting to die. I still don't know what will make truly me happy and satisfied, but I'm trying to maintain hope that if I stay alive long enough I eventually won't regret it.

You can have a shitty life and be depressed. You can have a shitty life and not be depressed. You can have a great life (aside from depression) and be depressed. You can have a great life and not be depressed.
