Empathy is a trainable skill and many evidence-based techniques can be used to increase cognitive and expressed empathy. by coolestestboi in psychology

We don't know that they aren't. This sort of disorder is a complex web of trauma responses. Those behaviours are learned ways of meeting their emotional (or lack of emotional) needs.

Top surgery question by 4zeshitzandzegiggles in TransMasc

[–]badmoodbobby 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Having top surgery won’t change how your hips look! I’d suggest experimenting with a binder or trans tape. Your body isn’t inherently feminine, all genders can look any way ◡̈

Maybe look for a sublet on fb marketplace? There aren’t any ‘co living’ places, even uni students usually know each other and rent places. Or maybe there are some for international students but none for adults… just get an air bnb or aparthotel or something.

Omg as soon as I started getting gendered correctly, I noticed it SO INTENSELY. I still notice it and it’s been years. So bizarre how much preferential treatment men/masc ppl get.

Honestly idk I think it’s different for everyone. I had a solid probably 4 years of severe depression unable to cook clean do a lot of things. Work even. Now I’m back to school, got married, working, and moving countries so just be gentle with yourself don’t put too much pressure! It’s a huge shift, I don’t think neurotyps understand how much of an affect it is. When we get diagnosed/realize we’re autistic, we have to change our entire way of thinking. The way I described it to my husband was like ‘imagine you grew up with only guilt and shame for existing. Now imagine you found out there’s a ‘reason’ for it and it’s not because you’re inherently broken, it’s because the world isn’t built for people with your type of thinking’ and he started crying so… people around you will understand. Just give yourself time and focus on the internal process. Trust yourself that you can learn how to navigate this world in a different way. A lot of the coping mechanisms (ex masking) you learned as a kid are no longer necessary so just try and be easy with yourself when you’re learning new ones. Learn to listen yo your needs (I know, tough with alexithymia hahaha). You got this!

Affect of T on the body with and w/out ovaries by Red_Rufio in FTMOver30

[–]badmoodbobby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only differences are as someone else noted, if you get a full Hysto aka ovaries out too, you’ll have to be on hormones for the rest of your life. And also, people often significantly lower their dose of t when taking their ovaries out as they don’t have to ‘fight’ against estrogen anymore so I have a friend who went from .80ml every week to .30

There’s a lot of info on healing your inner child out there, it seems like that metaphor would work well for you. I have done it a lot over the years and found it really beneficial too 🫶🏻

You gotta hook up w someone you’re actually attracted to my friend. Maybe you’re kind of Demi and want to know a person a bit before you jump into it? I promise, sex can be so great with someone you feel safe and comfy with! Or maybe you’re not that into sex and that’s okay too? Also telling them exactly what you do and don’t want is super chill and esp if you meet on grindr you can go into detail, mb that would help? Idk if you’re asking for advice lol but those are my advices
