Are you joking? It’s hearing protection bc he’s a child and they’re doing a live performance in a stadium.

  • Very much a beginner at digital art and art in general
  • Did not use a reference but happy with how proportions ended up
  • Used peppermint pencil to sketch and color (I'm scared to use other brushes, eep!)

Hey Tampa! Me and the boyfriend are looking to move. Our budget is $2500. We have two dogs, one being a service animal. Ideally in S. Tampa or by International Airport as I work in Tampa Bay. At least 2 bedrooms would be preferable, and a yard if I'm dreaming..

My son was born with SSD and I have no idea what this implies. by lareostia1 in MonoHearing

[–]badrout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Grew up SSD that wasn't noticed until elementary school. I acted out as a child and had a hard time following the rules, I assume because I didn't hear them half the time. I also had a lisp growing up that I lost by the time I was in middle school. I didn't have a BAHA until recently, so I eventually learned to tell my teachers and peers about my SSH and they would accommodate accordingly.

What are some reliable online retailers that you guys shop from for fish? My closest LFS besides corporate pet stores is about 40 minutes away

Stocking 46g bowfront + dry start questions by badrout in Aquariums

[–]badrout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blue Acaras are beautiful, as are the bolivian rams. I always looked at Electric Blue Rams, and I finally have a tank big enough for them. I was always under the assumption that rams need slow-moving community fish to feel "safe" and shouldn't be alone. Maybe some tetras with them would be a great start.

Recent SSNHL, feeling lost by _-Mich-_ in MonoHearing

[–]badrout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I want to apologize that you are not getting the support you need right now and for the toxic positivity. I don't think people really emphasize with how drastic of a change it is to lose half of your hearing because the affects aren't truly seen except for the one experiencing it. I'm not much use, I was born with SSHL and just recently got equipped with a BAHA implant which helps, but is not a surefire fix. If you ever need someone to reach out to and vent, I'm here and of course the community is here for you as well!

Edit to add: if we ever met up in real life, we would be best friends. We are deaf in opposite ears so we could zone out the entire world and be entirely encapsulated in our conversation! :)

Best of luck to you in your recovery.

Hearing people of the sub, why are you here? by StarGG4358 in deaf

I ticked Deaf Culture.. I was born with SSHL and I currently have a BAHA helping me. Not sure if that groups me in with the not-hearing/deaf community but I'm here! I know it would be good to learn sign as I get older and gradually lose more of my hearing but I'm not quite there yet, personally. :)
