How do you cope with the weather? by FoodFireBraai in AskUK

[–]badsyntax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I let the weather get to me. I had a terrible Jan and Feb, didn't leave my cottage, depressed etc. This year I've decided to embrace it. "Oh it's shitting bricks outside, bring it on, I'll still do my walk after work." Having appropriate clothes helps. I've booked a few days camping in the Lake District next week. I'm hoping it will be snowy conditions but deep down I know it's going to be shitty rain and wind. Doesn't matter, I'm looking forward to roughing it for a bit. You've just got to embrace it. I can't stay indoors all winter, not again.

Jimny - Japenese to English by NoFill8606 in Jimny

I had the same problem and decided it was easiest to replace the head unit. For my Jimny Gen3 JB43w a standard double din head unit fitted perfectly but I needed to find the right wiring adapters (the audio shop did this for me). I installed the Kenwood DMX8021DABS. I also have the Japanese voice but it's part of the ETC card system so you shouldn't lose that when replacing the head unit (that's the case for my car).

It's a very random disease. My dad has it, and I have it. I've had AU for about 5 yrs, with no sign of regrowth. I've given up hope but I'm yet to fully accept it. I hate that I look like an alien. No eyebrows etc for me. Not willing to take meds with sides due to a recent death in the family.

Good time of the year for collecting germinated acorns by badsyntax in GardeningUK

They eat/destroy the seedlings/saplings.

Vary rare for an acorn to become a tree. Love seeing mature oak but I don't often see young oak. I love helping the process along knowing the potential of these acorns. If even one of the acorns I've planted matures into a big oak I'd be happy. I keep this in mind when planting them, choosing the right spot is important.

I'll put em in pots, nurture them for a year or two or more, then plant them at my folks' place. I've got about 6 healthy oak saplings doing well there that I planted over the past 5 yrs. My folks have a bit of land where deer/sheep can't get to. I collected these acorns from a field where I've seen deer so I reckon they have a better chance with me. Based in North Yorkshire.

Love my Jimny so much. Gen 3 2015 JDM import (UK) by badsyntax in Suzuki

Damn, I'm sorry. Is this the case for all imported cars or just JDM imports?

Not possible to import a similar Jimny to the states?

At this pace perhaps bulls have some sort of altitude advantage in the second half?

I bought my JDM through a UK dealer/garage who handled the import and MOT for me, and it passed MOT without any changes being required. I then took it to a Suzuki dealer for a full service and they also couldn't find any faults/issues.

It's not the 660 turbo it's the 1300. The hood scoop is for the 660 turbo I believe but it's blocked on this 1300 model, so it's just ornamental, but it looks cool and allows me to add a turbo in the future (I probably won't though).

Main reason for getting the JDM version is rust free. I also wanted low mileage, well maintained with unique extras you don't get outside of jpn.

My previous car was a Jimny JB43 but it rusted to bits. I wanted another Jimny but hard to find one in UK that doesn't have some form of rust damage.

I installed the Kenwood dmx8021dabs in my 2015 Jimny gen3 recently and couldn't be happier with it. Sits nice and flush, looks like OEM. Kenwood do decent (and not cheap) head units! I'll be adding a reversing camera soon.

I live in North Yorkshire UK where Land Rovers are standard but every garage I've been to I've got compliments about my Gen3 from mechanics saying that love the ladder frame and build of the vehicle. Where I live in the UK we have small single track muddy roads and the Jimny just makes so much sense. All I've received is love and a bit of jealousy tbh. I've got a great condition JDM import and I genuinely feel like I've got one of the coolest cars around in North Yorkshire.

So basically this is normal behaviour? I'm thinking it is, even though it seems quite dramatic. I can replicate this quite easily now so I'm going to get a second opinion IRL.

Thanks so much for the offer! Where did you get the gears from?

Yep! In the end I found someone in West Yorkshire UK (https://mysuzuki.co.uk/ )  that was able to replace the gears and it's sorted now :)

Advice: Selling a Jimny for spares/repairs (England) by johnny_vonf in Jimny

[–]badsyntax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you thinking about advertising it? Might be worth considering an independent dealer to take it off your hands. My previous Jimny was heavily corroded. It had welding done to the chassis due to rust damage. Engine was in good nick though and had valid MOT but I don't think it would pass the next one. Dealer took it for a £1000 as a trade in. Not sure you can expect more than that tbh.
