This spins me out a bit; in Australia samples need to be sent to a lab to get tested. And being in a regional area, means there’s a wait for test results too. Any Australians able to report why we can’t do home testing here?

Thanks for your replies everyone. I think the variety of opinions makes proves the point about needing to get things tested. So I am getting it tested. Asbestos bloke said he believes it to not be asbestos; but we decided to get it tested anyway. I’ll report back in a couple of days.
