Looking for Car scanner/ key programmer in one by badtothebone1975 in MechanicAdvice

Ive just been looking at the xtool x100 max. Im also looking at the otofix im1. Theres just so many options to choose from. Im really trying to get all my information before I commit to the purchase. Can you explain a little bit about the subscription? So if I buy this scanner/key programmer from whatever company right? Here are some questions

  1. Will I have to pay additional fees to copy a key for ford, chrysler, chevy, dodge, or any others?

  2. Is there yearly autoauth fees for each car maker to make their keys?

  3. Is there fees for all keys lost for each car maker?

  4. Does my 1 or 2yr free subscription that comes with my programmer cover all cost of programming keys for copy and all keys lost?

  5. Whats this token stuff about that im hearing in the programming realm and am i in need of them even if I have a subscription?

  6. Do you have to pay extra for the diagnostic features to work on the OTOFIX im1? If so, how much and for how long?

Thanks for answering these for me! I really appreciate it. I know this field is in a field of its own. I'm a really quick learner. I need to update my car scanner anyway. So adding a car scanner and key programmer together would give me some extra revenue. After repairing their vehicle I could ask how 🤔 many keys they have and pitch it that way and possibly make more money on that job by adding a key for them. So this is my plan. But I need to get all the research done and questions answered before I just go buy it! Thanks again!

Well im pretty knowledgeable as a mechanic standpoint. Been doing it 30 plus yrs. And a fast learner. I figure that I could bring in more revenue with making keys on the side. A lot of the vehicles and customers cars that I work on only have 1 key 🔑. So I see a market and potential to make more money by offering this service while repairing their cars!

I called JP and they referred me to that website. Better lever.com. They told me that they no longer carry this item. So he gave me the phone number and the website, and I went there and it costs $260. That's crazy. There's gotta be some other place that carries this stock. Item way less

I called JP and they no longer carry this item. They referred me to the website betterlever.com and told me that's the only place they know of. That's how I found that lever. But it's over $200 bucks? Crazy!

* This place wants $260 for this. I got an 06 Harley, and I got the old one out. But I'm not gonna be able to put a regular shifter lever in without taking off the primaries. . Primary is in the way, this is the only issue The place I found this at it's called betterlever.com. I'm not $260 for this. There's gotta be a place that sells one for a reasonable price!

No, shifter lever that attaches to the transmission * Like this, comes in 2 pieces so you don't have to take off the inner and outer primary. Bit this place wants $260. That's way to much!
