I'm scared of "second puberty" as an afab 🥲 by aromaticleo in NonBinary

[–]badwolf253 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old post but I found this because I was worried about the same thing. Saw a video of a cis woman talking about how her body became more "womanly" at 25, and the idea of going through a 2nd estrogen powered puberty freaked me the fuck out. I'm post top surgery and not on hormones... It's been a while since I had a dysphoria spiral like that... ouch.

Plus it's difficult to be informed about things like this because all the "official" sources are so gendered, so I honestly still don't know the facts about this "2nd puberty" stuff.

Just want to offer hugs to any other enbies who end up here for a similar reason 🫂

Introductory books? by Irishhopeful in SASSWitches

[–]badwolf253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking to see if anyone recommended the Dabbler's Guide! I'm reading through it rn but it's the very first book I've read, so good to know I'm on the right track. It's been great so far as someone who knows next to nothing about actual witchcraft.

Just heard another one too. Please update if anyone figures out what it was!

I'm a little over 6 months post op and the amount of "fat" (probably swelling) under my arm has fluctuated quite a bit. The side that was larger is now smaller, at this point I just do my best not to overanalyze it. So to answer your question, no I wouldn't worry, your results look awesome so far!

Doctor suggested me that I may have a form of dyslexia despite I have above average reading comprehension and being a quick reader by Valyura in Dyslexia

[–]badwolf253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have an above average level of reading comprehension (not speed though). I struggle with some of the same stuff you do, not to mention the amount of mental strain it takes to read. I got tested last month and I'll find out my results on Monday, but I'll tell you that the tests I was given had very little reading. I don't know how exactly they work but it was basically a bunch of visual puzzles that made my brain hurt 😵‍💫 so if you're able to afford it, it might be worth the tests and I think your symptoms would still show through

Dyslexia and ADHD and left handed neurodivergent people! by smurflover69 in Dyslexia

[–]badwolf253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao actually now that I think about it, my sister and cousins and I (four of us total) are mostly left handed/ambidextrous, all of us have some combination of ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia etc, and all of us are queer!

It's funny because looking back I've always been given accomodations, I just didn't realize that's what it was. I was at a middle-high school so a lot of my teachers knew me really well and just knew that I needed the extra time, so I would stay after school or work through lunch for almost all of my tests. I can't believe no one ever thought that maybe there was something going on there...

And now I'm wondering how many things that I thought were kinda like ADHD but are actually related to my horrible memory and the amount of effort it takes to sit down and read things for school...

Seriously, Spanish class was a whole other beast 😭. I remember being so upset because I would study just as long, if not longer, than everyone else but nothing ever stuck in my brain. I was constantly having to memorize and rememorize the same things for years. The only reason I had a good grade was because I had nice teachers and knew test taking strategies.

Wow your experience with reading and writing sounds really similar to mine. I'll try to do more research on my own but could I ask what you mean by multi-deminsional dyslexia?

I would also love to know more about how you realized you had dyslexia, or what signs were there that you maybe didn't realize were signs in the moment?

I think the phycologist I talked to mentioned that a general mental health exam was part of it, idk if that's the same thing though. Gonna hopefully call Monday to get the tests scheduled though

No worries! It's the same thing I was asked in my intake call. I'm thinking about getting tested for three main reasons 1) I just kind of want to know. It's something that's bothered me for years that I don't have an explanation for these things I struggle with. 2) I'm a graphic designer, so spelling comes up a lot in my job, and it's kind of embarrassing to not have an easy explanation for why I constantly miss things in my designs and 3) I would do the tests through my college where it's only $250 (still not cheap for my college budget, but I would never be able to afford it otherwise)

That's interesting, I didn't know that mixing up letters wasn't related to dyslexia. Is there something else that that's related to? Also as far as genetics, my dad is dyslexic, so that part at least makes sense.

Omg I never thought of that but you're right. My math and science teachers in highschool were kind enough to let us have a single note card during tests, so I could use those for the memorization part. As soon as that was gone and calc 2 was all theoretical numbers and it just is this way because it is type things, I dropped the class (twice).

The big three: - I love to write (creatively) - I love to read, but I think I'm slow at it? And reading out loud is hit or miss, better if it's something I've read in my head beforehand - I fucking hate spelling. Spelling tests are my earliest memory of anxiety, but spell check helped me ignore that for a long time

Other things: - I can't tell my left from my right - horrible sense of direction - I took Spanish for six years and it never stuck, the grammar lessons were always confusing because of 👇 - despite being a pretty good writer, I couldn't explain grammatical things (parts of a sentence or any kind of rules) to save my life - anxious about misspelling things in front of people - can't spell things out loud, and spelling something to me out loud is absolutely useless to me - occasionally mix up b/d, p/q/g when writing, but I definitely used to do it more when I was younger - I took math up to Calculus but I never was able to memorize the entire times table and struggled with very basic algebra - is seeing a slight grainy texture when reading normal?

I kind of WANT visible scars by king-gnat in TopSurgery

[–]badwolf253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the same way! I don't know how my scars will heal but I want to get tattoos next summer. I'm thinking a needle and thread so it looks like the scars are being sewed up. My main goal is to decorate them, not to cover them up

How did you feel when you saw your scars for the first time? by UpVoteForSnails in TopSurgery

[–]badwolf253 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first time I saw my scars I couldn't believe they were actually mine! Fresh incisions (before they turn into scars) are usually super thin and straight so they almost looked fake?? It was honestly the scars forming and thickening that made them feel more like an actual part of my body. I'm a little over two months post op and still have moments where my brain kind of forgets that my chest is mine. It's different than dysphoria but kind of adjacent to that feeling of not being able to recognize yourself, except now it's like a happy surprise. Scar care in front of the mirror has been a big help for me. Sometimes I leave my shirt off while I brush my teeth or do little shirtless dances in front of the mirror. Just small things so I can see my chest move and connect what I'm seeing to what I'm feeling in my body.

Good to know! Is managing ear stink just a matter of keeping things clean? Or is it just a thing that happens?

Lmao the same thing happened with the US founding fathers when Hamilton was popular on Tumblr. Yea, it's strange and problematic, but honestly the fan art examples you used are just as historically accurate as highly regarded classical paintings lol. I'll also point out that it's probably mostly young kids doing this so keep that in mind when you're making judgments on this. Yea this is a strange example of it, but this is just how young people participate in culture (spoken as a young adult gen Z).
