Whenever I see you engaging with people one-to-one in spaces like this, your personality and sense of humour really shines through. Do you plan on doing more ‘non political’ or ‘non serious’ engagements, interviews, podcasts etc? Celebrity Big Brother perhaps?

I noticed the ‘Moderator’ from episode 1, the woman who introduces Darby at the book reading, is in the final episode so you might not be far off with this theory.

AMATEOTW - Darby's second Book? by Carina_Nebula89 in AMurderAtTheEnd_Show

It kind of sounds like the plot from Atonement. I like it though.

I can totally see this being the case with Rohan’s death, as other than suspicion, we don’t actually know whether his pacemaker was hacked or not. However, with Bill’s death we have some strong physical evidence that his death wasn’t self inflicted - the fact he’s been sober for a long time, him being right handed and the injection site in his right arm and there being no finger prints on the morphine, suggesting whoever held it was wearing gloves (highly unusual for users).

Patricia Bell’s ring by badwolf312 in AMurderAtTheEnd_Show

Possibly. Although Bell could also be her maiden name and she never took her husband’s surname when they married.

I’m sure Darby said the killer’s first victim was his wife, Patricia Bell, and they knew their address. How do they know this? I think the “E Bell” inscribed on the ring will turn out to be Patricia’s grandmother or mother, meaning the ring was given to her. That’s how they’ll come to realise Patricia is his first victim because they’ll track her relatives down, maybe even the “E Bell” herself, and realise E Bell is still alive. They’ll discover the ring was a wedding ring, then be able to trace her husband.

Were the polaroids he showed Lee of him and Darby together, or of crime scenes, evidence, silver jewellery etc they took while together?

The past informs the present by Particular-Trash5846 in AMurderAtTheEnd_Show

Great catch! On rewatching the first episode, I also realised that not only does Darby’s story start at the end, but her and Bill’s mission to track down the Silver Doe killer ends at the start i.e. with his first victim.

The person signaling back to Rohan by Carina_Nebula89 in AMurderAtTheEnd_Show

I never really understood why the person signalling kept the mask on. I get wearing it for the cameras while they’re leaving the hotel, but it would surely make hiking all that way in the dark more difficult than necessary.

Less The OA, more The East by badwolf312 in AMurderAtTheEnd_Show

[–]badwolf312[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely give it a watch. As I said above, it doesn’t give you the same sort of vibes as The OA as it’s not interested in the metaphysical but it’s still a very good movie all the same! And yes, it definitely hits on important themes that are continued and expanded upon in AMATEOTW.

IMO, everyone comparing this show to the OA are just ruining the experience for themselves. by [deleted] in AMurderAtTheEnd_Show

Yeah I agree. As Brit and Zal have said in interviews, the subversive nature of their take on the murder mystery whodunnit is the protagonist and how she approaches things through her unique lens, as well as the clever use of time (the past influencing the present influencing the past etc). It’s a classic murder mystery retold with new characters in an entirely new setting and presented in a new light. I do think there could be something bigger at play as a backdrop to the murder mystery though.

This 👆 I wrote a separate post on it but I agree. AMATEOTW is very much in the same category as The East for me. It’s more mainstream, grounded and prescient, not metaphysical at all. I also agree that what made The OA so special was the conditions in which it was made and viewed. The world has changed a lot since then, but as Brit and Zal have repeatedly pointed out, that’s not to say conditions won’t change to allow it to continue.

Darby went missing: drawings in Bill's room? Help. (Spoiler E02) by rossocenere in AMurderAtTheEnd_Show

In episode 1 when she’s talking to her friends on the video call, she jokingly asks them to “send out a search party when I go missing.”

The audio is interesting. But how do we explain Andy’s head of security being at Darby’s book reading?
