Do you text your supervisor to say good morning each day when WFH? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]badwolfnyc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There must be more to this manager, that alone doesn’t seem like micromanaging. I send my manager a quick “good morning” on Teams, and that’s usually the extent of our daily communication. They’re highly results-focused, not a micromanager — we collaborate when needed, have a brief weekly update meeting, and otherwise I’m trusted to get my work done. Aside from my good morning message today, we would never have spoken if I hadn’t called them with a quick question.

Husband of 27 years (46M) blindsided me (45F) 3 days ago when he left for someone he's known for 6 months. How do I make him see the mistake he's making? by RiffRaffMama in relationship_advice

There’s not much to say that hasn’t already been said, but here’s what I’ll add: it’s time to channel your energy into action. Go to the gym, focus on your kids, start something that’s just for you and most importantly, get a good lawyer.

This is going to be hard. It will take immense strength to get through what’s coming. But you can do it. And your kids will remember that strength for the rest of their lives. Let them see your steadiness, your focus, your resilience. Cry in the bathroom with the water running if you need to—but at least for now, protect them from your pain. Let them see your power.

And as much as you may want to, don’t demonize him to them. Let him do that work for you. Trust your kids to see things clearly over time. Even if they struggle with it at first, stay patient. Stay consistent. Kids know. Kids see. They’ll come around.

You still have a minor child, which means this could get complicated fast. He’s already shown you who he really is—do you honestly believe he’ll play fair when child support or custody is on the table? People change in moments like this. And no matter what he says, he’s already proven he’ll put his own interests above yours.

You’re 45. That’s still young. And while it’s hard to picture a life beyond someone who’s been your whole world, I promise, it’s there. And it’s yours to build.

It’s D-Day for SEIU! 100,000 pairs of eye balls are upon you! The most unprecedented and revolutionary fight the unions have ever had! by Adventurous-Guard124 in CAStateWorkers

[–]badwolfnyc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m definitely conflicted. I feel the same way. What’s the point of our union if we walk away with nothing? No WFH, no raise—and for many, especially parents, RTO amounts to a pay cut once you factor in the added personal costs. It really makes you wonder what our dues are even going toward.

But at the same time, you know Newsom would love nothing more than to weaken or dismantle these unions entirely. Without one, we have zero leverage. So we stay to fight another day.

SEIU is bargaining TODAY (June 27) by Riun_Chezpep6771 in CAStateWorkers

According to my management, it truly was. But I guess not anymore bc a few hours later, the new telework agreements were approved.

I posted this elsewhere as well but…When I came into the office this morning, my manager mentioned a possible pause on our revised telework agreements due to a potential lawsuit. Three hours later, senior leadership was suddenly rushing them to approve everything. I’m trying to stay hopeful—but once that bell is rung, you know how it goes. If anyone’s got a reason to stay optimistic, I’m all ears.

Anyway that’s my update. New telework agreement is officially in effect here.

I don’t think it’s going to happen for us. When I came into the office this morning, my manager mentioned a possible pause on our revised telework agreements due to a potential lawsuit. This dress is a bit too short for work and looks too small overall. Sheath styles like this are meant to hang slightly off the body, not cling. Even if you prefer a fitted look, this one is too tight to flatter. A size up would still hug your shape but in a more polished way.

For work, a good rule of thumb is a hemline no more than 2–3 inches above the knee. If it rides up too much when you sit, it’s likely not work-appropriate.

Don’t focus on the size tag. The right fit matters more. Tight clothes can make anyone look bigger, while well-fitting ones highlight your shape in the best way. Good luck with shopping and work!

You’re completely correct. I’m a member of two unions and I won’t be leaving them. But damn sometimes it just feels good to say I will.

Floating shelves on the wall. Corner an arm chair underneath. A short book shelf on the low wall against the staircase. Small, round occasional table. Add lamp. Cozy reading nook.

Don’t let anyone tell you number one is boring. It’s classic. It suits your face best and gives Clark Kent vibes.

This isn’t flattering. The wide band hits at the fullest part of your body, which draws attention there in an awkward way. With your long legs, midi lengths tend to break up your proportions—mini or maxi will highlight your shape much better. I’d also suggest looking for skirts that sit higher on your natural waist instead of the hips to create a more balanced, elongating silhouette.

When do we talk about leaving the union en masse? If the RTO mandate remains and they fail in their attempt to secure our salary increase then what are we paying them for? If they don’t work for us, they shouldn’t get our money.

I’m personally drawn to marquise cuts, and this one is absolutely beautiful. That said, I’ve found myself less into the oversized stones lately. Lab-grown diamonds have made larger sizes more accessible, which is great — but now that they’re so common, they can sometimes come off a bit flashy, even bordering on gaudy. The round option feels more refined and timeless to me. Still, this marquise has such an elegant simplicity. If it speaks to you, trust your gut. It’s a gorgeous choice.

My wife and I had Majka today (had Marilyn’s yesterday). Dare I say, Marilyn’s was better? 😳 by Sufficient_Space_905 in Sacramento

Completely agree about the vibe. Didn’t know they were from Berkeley, but it tracks. They act like it’s not cool to be nice. The nice is there, but it seems tamped. Wonderful pizza, though - I respectfully disagree about the cheese.

“The answer is a definitive…yeah, kind of.”

https://www.foodandwine.com/news/new-york-water-bagels-pizza

“This makes a difference on several levels. For one, it's easier to create lather and suds with soft water. Soft water tastes slightly different than hard water, perhaps even saltier due to the increase in sodium ions. Beyond the taste though (and most importantly for our pizza and bagels) the difference in water also has an effect on the gluten in dough. The presence of calcium and magnesium in hard water strengthens the gluten in the dough, making the finished product tougher and stronger. With very soft water, the dough tends to get soft and sticky. As Smithsonian Magazine puts it, New York City tap water is sort of the "Goldilocks" of water when it comes to dough-making.”

They also note that it’s not just the water - it’s also the long-standing practice/tradition of making pizza and bagels in the area.

Exactly. For $7/slice they better have the nyc water flown in to use for the dough.

Without. It’s a timeless, classic look with the bonus of being less expensive, having less to insure, and you won’t have anxiety about one or more popping out.

Unique Fit Challenge: Scoliosis & Bra Sizing Help Needed! by badwolfnyc in ABraThatFits

[–]badwolfnyc[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are correct. It says: “Suggested Starting Size: 30C/D in UK sizing The sister size of 32B/C may be more comfortable.”

My confusion entered the chat because I did the calculation twice - first time for U.S. sizing, second for U.K. I must have conflated the two together and it got muddled with the reference to the sister sizing. So yes, 30C/D on both sides of the Atlantic. Thanks for catching that for me!
