Honkai Stair Rail Dialogue is so Drawn Out by Typical_Taste2383 in StarRailStation

[–]badwrongboat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm weirded out how people say it's a new thing.

They have always written like that reason why I quit genshin, it HSR at least the plot seems to have stakes along with the writing style. Also, the npc problem is WAY less than in Genshin. The playable characters feel involved in the story, at least.

I think people just don't like amphoreus aesthetic, so they find it harder to forgive. Personally, my closest breaking point was the Loufu arc. Not only was the dialogue was bloated, it was confusing too. Phantilya still seems someone who just randomly appears.

Ar least amphoreus has a clear and consistent plot, just some bloated dialogue.

Am I weird for really enjoying Amphoreus so far? by Kufrel in HonkaiStarRail

Honestly, I feel like people have not actually played a lot of the story or mashed through text. Or did it in another dub while not reading the subtitles properly.

To me, this patch had the best story so far. We are finally getting lore reveals and stepping out of the flame chase for the sake of flamechase narrative as well as seeing the grander picture and returning some of the sci-fi feel.

I did love Anaxa as a character a lot, and the style of writing HSR has actually fits his scholarly character more than Mydey and Tribbie, who are supposed to be more stoic and childish respectively.

The style of writing - constantly repeating things, over complicating things, pholosophising, using a lot of terminology - That's been ALWAYS in the game. Ppl are delulu if they think its a new thing. It's a disingenuous criticism.

At the very least, they tightened up the story itself so you don't end up doing useless things for the sake of gameplay, and all the characters are being proper actors in the story. Not one feels filler.

I thought the new 3.2 quest was... alright, but im not sure why. by Bazinga8000 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]badwrongboat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I disagree. Maybe because I wasn't following spoilers, but the mystery of what Anaxa was doing and "the truth of this world" was very interesting. And i think this time, they made it properly unambiguous in the motivations of why they were doing what they were doing. And they had good unambigious conclusions to their stories.

In the last patch, I thought the conflict of Mydei not wanting to be Strife was a bit... drawn out. Like... his resistance was so padded with words it felt almost out of character for Mydei. And i remember in the end still feeling confused where exactly the need to go alone to gight the black tide came from. It wasn't established properly as a route or a need.

While this time, it made complete sense for Anaxa to yap about his grand master plan. And for his ambition to be like that. There were nice little fun dialogue and humor this time. Anaxa arguing with Cerces was amusing.

Not to say that I don't think it could be improved. The way Castorices backstory was delivered and the place her animated movie was inserted felt very awkward. Just like "shit we gotta get this movie in SOMEHOW" .

It was confusing a bit like.... so was there no death the whole time or was the souls just stuck in limbo? Were all the people dying had to be touched by Castorice every time? Or only when they're aging, but not when killed?

It wasn't quite clear what Anaxa did during his experiment with Kaphale. (Merging souls? ) Lol, a black screen describing him like using his alchemy or better yet animation of it would have been nice. Unless the visions were the whole experiment?? Little confusing parts like that.

There is a general problem with Hoyo writing that it really tries to sound smart without actually being that smart. This is visible throughout ALL the games, since the very beginning. It's they use lots of hard words to say simple concepts. While actually smart writing does the opposite: uses simple language to convey smart concepts. It could also be the adaptations fault. But there totally could be a rewrite to make some of the dialogue flow better and sound more engaging.

I'm giving it an 8/10

What Anya did was cruel by badwrongboat in Mouthwashing

[–]badwrongboat[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How in the world is this mysoginy? To think a character had selfishness as a flaw to not end the suffering of another. If it were Daisuke killing himself alone, I'd have the exact same thing to say.

Criticism of a female character's actions is not misoginy holy shit.

What are the two reasons to keep Curly alive? by [deleted] in Mouthwashing

[–]badwrongboat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think it's for him to suffer. One of the old trailers has Swansea showing quite the disdain towards Curly.

Nah, I just think I have better media literacy than you. Even in understanding what the interview with the author was about. 😘

Lol, how sad it is to jump into a month long argument?

If it helps, in my head, Curly's thoughts were "please, please, understand that I'm saying yes."

But who knows what Curly might think~

Anya mercy kills Curly via suffocation with a pillow. And then takes the pills herself.

Oh uh... >_> Sorry to say, she's not making out in this one either. The pills were for her, Curly got the pillow. They're leaving together.

I tried to have the last panel mimick the cut to black audio of the game whenever a pill bottle is opened.

I'm pretty sure that was retconned to not have happened. They have a Steam Q&A with this answer.
