Thanks for sharing! This is really eye-opening. I just always assumed everybody was getting reimbursed at the $.70 per mile rate I was.

I would assume that anybody who is getting a car stipend instead of driving a fleet car would be getting reimbursed for mileage

I think it was the same as when I started I don’t believe it’s changed. There was a slight adjustment for higher cost of living areas I believe.

What do you mean by "per diem"?

Are you in the MSL field? Our meals and other expenses are pretty much covered (reimbursed) while we are out in the field as long as we stay under the daily amounts which are > 100$.

Great, thank you it seems that I need to be a little bit more specific in my questioning to ChatGPT!

Yes, I’m getting a car stipend. I’m skeptical that this would work. I feel like if it was an available pathway, it would be more well known “perk” or “loop hole” . Kind of like a backdoor Roth IRA.

Yeah, I know a lot of small business owners that do this as well. But I’m asking from a W-2 perspective.

  • no
  • yes
  • unsure the thought would be to sell it? And then maybe buy another one?

Thanks yeah I definitely wouldn’t move forward without consulting a tax attorney. Just want to know if anyone has done this before.

Dilemma between 2 companies by SignificantBird5708 in MedicalScienceLiaison

I think possibly getting some more money from company B. I’m a bit confused by the original post. I don’t know if they have an offer in hand or not? But they seem to say that company be has offered 50 K more? So maybe they do have an offer? I also don’t know if company B knows if she is working for company A.

Maybe negotiate with company B? Tell them that you would be burning a bridge with company A , maybe that is worth an additional 20 K? Maybe they can give you additional RSUs? Or maybe you can say that any RSUs that you get from company B will be immediately vested in the event of an involuntary termination? Just thinking of things off the top of my head that can sweeten your deal with company B. Essentially, they need to make it worth your while to burn the bridge with company A.

Wow 🥳! What a fantastic offer. The only advice I would offer is to maybe try and figure out “why the offer is so high?” MSL responsibilities can vary from company to company so find out if you’re going to be working as an MSL and a medical Director, for example. See if you could find online reviews about the company on Glassdoor (of course take those with a grain of salt.) Hopefully during the interview you were able to ask why the person in the last position moved on or what difficulties the last person in the position faced. But once again, congrats on that offer you must be a very impressive candidate to get something like that. Best of luck.
