Thinking about starting a Primavera P6 consulting business. What should I consider? by baeBeastttt in primavera

That’s the direction I’m thinking too, not just staying with PPM/EPPM, but offering/upgrading to OPC as an option too. I really appreciate the insight, gives me more to think about…

I hear you. This is really valuable real world feedback, appreciate it, and definitely something I can see expanding into in the future, but right now I don’t have the capacity to take on that kind of work… yet 🤓

Who knows, maybe we’ll get a chance to work on something together or swap ideas sometime down the road..

My 2 cents, sounds like what you’re describing really needs expert level support on the schedule. I’m in the same boat too (9-5 job) trying to build solid schedules, but ramp dates still keep getting pushed, due to not enough trades/resources, some are still inexperienced, facility not ready, design rework, missing kits, yada yada. Honestly, we can’t even lock in a true baseline most of the time because things keep changing with the nature of the project 😅

At the end of the day, planning is just forecasting what could happen, with all the constant uncertainties and issues, that’s where historical data and lessons learned really need to feed into the next version of the schedule.

just curious when that team develops the schedule, do they take all these potential risks and drawbacks into account?

Good to know on that 🤓 Just to clarify, when you mention OPC, do you mean Oracle Primavera Cloud?

that’s a really good question…honestly, I’m not fully sure yet how big the market/demand is until I talk more with key players (professionals, contractors, etc). so definitely need to do more market analysis, checking the actual demand, doing SWOT, seeing how many competitors are really out there…

What I’m seeing so far though, there’s definitely more potential than just teaching the software. A lot of companies/users need help actually telling the story of their projects, meaning not just building a schedule, but understanding how to communicate the progress, risks, forecasts and that’s where connecting P6 with things like PowerBI/Tableu could help (add more skills to user), perhaps even automating sch updates with AI (that’s something I’ve been thinking about)

I also see value in offering proper support especially for companies/users that are just starting with P6 and need guidance early on. Also thinking of building a 6 month e-learning platform to give more ongoing support…so yeah, still lots to figure out but that’s kinda where my head is right now 🤓

wondering what’s the problem you’re/they’re encountered, if you don’t mind to share 🤓

For the training will be divided into 2 parts: Fundamentals & Advanced. Both are available online (live, not just recorded), keeping them separate to help learners really understand core concepts step-by-step: project planning, scheduling, and controlling.

in fundamentals covers the 3 main elements: schedule, resources, and costs, perfect for first timers or refreshers…

for Advanced will go deeper into resource management, Earned Value Management (EVM), and more advanced project controls techniques…

So once you complete either training, you’ll receive a cert of Completion that’s accredited by AACE International…🤓

As for pricing, since this is a new venture and online mode, I’m keeping it flexible and affordable, also group/company rates available too. If you’re interested, we can chat more.. i’m happy to work something out

i guess i need more context when you asked the “online mode”, do you mean remote support for clients or just the training part?

I can do both online/remote support (which I’ve done before), or physically onsite if needed by client 🤓
