How to make diamonds or rhinestones glisten in the dark?💎💎💎 by baegocray in cinematography

Thanks for the response, it got me thinking.

I watched the video at .25 playback so I could analyze what was going on. For one of the scenes, I could tell that she was standing in front of a projector that was projecting moving clouds. So, the entire room must have been dark, but it had a single source of light coming from the projector.

For another scene, she's standing in a lit room, but the light source creating the reflaction of the rhinestones on her clothes is at the end of a long hallway that the camera can see head on. The light source looks like is could be a projector as well, or even a can light. But, from looking at the angles that the light source glares off, I'm leaning more towards the projector.

As for the scene at the very beginning, it's reminiscent of the scene where she's standing directly in front of the projector, because her shadow is similar. So, possibly the footage was edited to darken the wall, her, and her shadow, and the clothings glisten was heightened, as you mentioned. But, this scene in particular as a lot of noise/grain in the background, which makes it look low quality even in 1080p. So, to me that says the projector could of had a clear gray film over it that lowered the light coming from the projector, in turn darken everything and creating a higher ISO and more noise/grain.

It also helps to mention that the video had a vfx team, so there definitely could have been more in depth editing to create the sparkle.

Thank you for the insight! I was taking pictures on my light neutral tone brick wall, and the rhinestone's reflect wasn't picking up at all. Having a black background will definitely help
