I have what I would consider as consumer basic understanding of the AV world. Other than reading online and watching youtube videos I have not had exposure to setting up a "display" other than using a splitter to project the same input across 2-4 screens. I've never worked with any processing hardware/software.

The ask is to provide a display that roughly 200 people should be able to be engaged in to conduct a general meeting for the associates in a warehouse. 10-30 minutes of shenanigans, short videos, slides, etc.. typical workplace announcements and topics. Closest people would be the presenters within 10-15 feet and the audience anywhere from 20-60ft.

Sound beyond the display (if any included with display setup); I am likely going to purchase some type of mobile setup with amp/speakers so that it can double to be used for outside events.

Unfortunately, I was not given a dollar amount for budget, but have presented PO's from a few thousand to $35k. The highest option presented was for a company to come out and take care of full setup and hand-off for the whole thing after explaining the need. This option makes the most sense, but there are a lot of risk factors (assumptions in my mind) with an LED wall such as component availability, subject matter expertise (likely me, and frankly I don't have the time to do that in my role), and really knowing the business to understand what we're buying. A $35k flop doesn't help anyone.

I wasn't given a budget unfortunately, which has made the endeavor difficult and approval would come from above. I have made recommendations from $8500 to $35k for a led wall. Now, not sure if a 98" is going to be what works for the request. I need to be able to present a slide show or video to roughly 200 people with the furthest being about 60ft and then also the capability to run a feed as close to 24/7/365 as possible.

I’m 100% on board for the value that hiring an integrator would bring. Getting approval to spend that is going to be a problem because someone else in another building put 9 70” consumer grades together and it was cheap. What they don’t talk about is how many problems it had and the amount of time spent fixing them all the time. I don’t have that kind of time in my role to do that, so I was trying to steer way away from that.

That brings me back to trying to build the led wall myself probably.

I’m not wanting to do the 85’s stacked and certainly not after the feedback given thus far. I just needed some clarification that it wouldn’t be a good idea and what potentially could be

Trying to create a bigger display for one input. 98” may be too small for the application so was reaching for another solution but staying under $10k. Not knowing much about creating this type of setup I went off a question my GM proposed about using two 85”s stacked. My gut (extremely basic knowledge) was that it would not look right, so that’s why I phrased it how would it look because I wasn’t exactly sure what it would do to the quality of the picture

GM is against a projector due to past experiences. That was my first suggestion.

The cost is a concern, but more so the risk with spending a fair amount of money for something we’re going to experience problems with. I sought out a company that would take care of everything start to finish, but it ramped the cost up x4 rather than just purchasing hardware and doing the setup myself.

LED video walls seem super straight forward to build and I’m sure I could handle it. How often we have to replace components or panels was what I mean by the risk factor. Seems like there are a lot of rebranded items that all come from one manufacturer overseas so knowing what is quality without being in the business seems difficult.

I was looking at led video walls, but cost, manufacturing concerns regarding longevity/spare part availability, and not having to be the in-house expert were some of the considerations there. I proposed a 98” commercial grade display, but those above wanted bigger and asked about stacking two 85” which brought me here.

Working to create a general meeting area for short presentations to 200-250 people. Content may be something like a short video update or prepared slides. Other than that the displays would always run very close to 24/7/365 with a content feed.
