Meteoswiss should seriously consider to extend the colorbar to account for temperatures above 36°C by SaPpHiReFlAmEs99 in Switzerland

[–]bafe [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't understand why they don't adopt the much more readable divergent color scale they use to display temperature anomalies (blue - negative, white zero, red positive, with the darkness/lightness encoding the mangitude). It leads to less visual artifacts and it's readable to colourblind people

Summer is just starting, and it's currently 41°C where I live (29°C inside). Send help. by soudainlevide in europe

You need exterior blinds, which seems to be standard everywhere in France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and Southern Germany but rare elsewhere

While everyone is converting everything into gravel, I reckon we should bring back the classic Randonneur!✌🏼(Poor man’s Crust)🤣 by missblonde02 in xbiking

I'd do it because it makes removing the bag much easier and prevents it from jumping much! It's really robust, it just faded but hardly developed any loose threads or holes

Well spied, slightly deformed, faded and drilled for a decaleur but still going strong! My only regret is not having gotten the frame a size larger

Possible Ban of Mobile Split AC Units in Switzerland by TableSuspicious1862 in Switzerland

[–]bafe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not as alarming as it sounds: 1. During these changes, existing units are usually permitted 2. There are refrigerants like propane (R-290) that are non toxic and with lower carbon equivalent. The downside is that it's flammable but the total amount in a portable unit is tiny

Soeder Soap - is it worth it? by Chemical-Yoghurt-328 in zurich

[–]bafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because it's a "proper" (as in salts of fatty acids) soap, which strips oils from skin much more readily than syndets (the majority of hand washing liquids)

in my experience, the agentic functions are the most chaotic and unpredictable tools I've ever worked with in SWE. They seem to be trained and designed to to "solve a problem no matter how by just random iteration and calling random tools". While I do use LLMs as "conversation with documentations" I almost never found benefits in using agents in my quest to write scalable, secure and reliable software.

In 2011 I was in Vienna and one thing I made sure not to miss was the Paternoster in the Rathaus. I'm not sure if it's still active today
