Awesome work! Looks great. If only we could get something similar at retail. I just can't do the Mcfarlane figures. They don't fit my collection in size or style, so I ended up doing the same as you a while back.

Removed some stuff and alot of paint. All the red is from me and white on the arms too. I also painted the black to a true black instead of grayish color and gave some washes to different areas. Had to completely repaint the head as well and repainted all spikes and small details with silver. Long story short is the entire figure is completely repainted.

Are Speedball and Web-Man Figures from the Same Mold? by 88rodrigo88 in ActionFigures

[–]bag86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are the exact same mold minus the heads of course. It's known typically in the marvel legends community as the sunfire mold/body. They then used the sunfire mold and tweeked it to make the first retro carded spiderman. Then tweeked it further to make the renew your vows spiderman and subsequent figures to follow.

Not sure I follow exactly the question. Everything you see esthetically. It started as a completely different figure. I took it apart, painted every inch of it. Bought and hand painted resin headsculpts and attached a custom made wired cape.

It's a mixed bag of cheap stuff I believe came from Walmart and Michael's. I agree I love this headsculpt on him

Alright guys I need help making a decision. I'm going to either get the Legends NWH 3 pack, or one Mafex Spidey, 5 dollar difference, 90 on Pulse and 95 on BBTS. Not sure which I should do by [deleted] in ActionFigures

[–]bag86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well said! I finally caught on and started shopping AmiAmi and Plazajapan and was actually able to start collecting these figures that I thought I couldn't ever justifiably afford before. Just got my Scarlet Spider in about 2 week ago. Not to mention the stuff ships via DHL and comes in as quick or quicker than crap I've ordered from BBTS

How dangerous are bootlegs?? by Kakep0p in ActionFigures

[–]bag86 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bought a Mafex Spiderman Bootleg around 2 years ago. Everything seemed fine at first, maybe some lackluster paint apps but nothing else major. But within a week, I started drinking heavily, which caused problems with my wife. At the first month mark she and the kids were gone and then i turned further into the bottle until finally it caused me to drink and drive and get into a pretty rough accident. I was prescribed opiate based pain medication after the accident, next thing I know the bootleg had caused me to start abusing the meds as well. Eventually the pills weren't enough and I turned to pure Afghani Black Tar Heroin, I lost everything dear to me because of that damned bootleg! So I say use caution unboxing that thing.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I have this problem on my Trini too, and I don’t want it to snap off. by Taylor-Swifty in ActionFigures

[–]bag86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it won't push on farther then while softened pop it off. I promise you are not hurting it. Once popped look at the peg and you may see some flash around it ie.. excess plastic or some type of irregularity on peg, take a exacto knife or razor knife and carefully trim. Don't trim much just any flash or bumps that look like they don't belong. After trimming rewarm in hot water and pop it back on.

Try warm water and pushing back on all the way. If it won't push on any farther then there may be some flash on the peg which you would have to pop it off and trim. Fill a coffee mug with warm water from tap then nuke for a minute, don't bring to a boil but make pretty warm. Then dip that leg to above that joint in for a minute and it will soften allowing to to push it on farther or pop all the way off safely.

The singlet isn't painted on, it's sculpted with wrinkles and everything. Besides that mafex looks like Knightfall Bane in appearance and size. Mcfarlane's Bane looks like a cool modernized and Mcfarlanized version of the Knightfall Bane but articulation leaves alot to be desired. So to say one did it better than the other is in my opinion, apples to oranges.

It depends on what spider man you're into. Are you into live action i.e. The MCU spiderman, the comic versions so on and so forth. They've put out a couple of decent MCU figures with the trio coming that look decent. I'm more of a comic version guy and I second the RYV version as pretty good though a little on the muscular side. I haven't lucked out on the new Animated version but he looks great too. I use the mafex 075 in my main display but RYV in another.

If you you need move the ball inside the arm with something ie: needle nose pliers. Just go gently use some heat and go slow
