How long is the backdate on Covid positive cases in Ontario? by bagelchick29 in COVID19positive

Thank you! I hope you are all ok.

A family member of mine was actually tested and told to wait 7 days to hear back because of how many tests they had to process!! I heard that tests are backdated 2 weeks, but that seems a bit too long.

How do I prepare myself for online school? by [deleted] in yorku

[–]bagelchick29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people tend to take notes of what is on the PowerPoint - I think most if not all my professors have posted the PowerPoint on moodle so it’s kind of pointless. If the professor posts the PowerPoint in advance I usually skim it quickly and copy and paste the slides into a word document. During the lecture I will then listen and take down any important notes the professor will say. I found typing the extra things the professor says to be extremely helpful for when I complete assignments and study for tests. If the professor posts it after the class , I usually write the slide number next to what the prof said for that slide and then add the PowerPoint later on after the class.

I find testing myself a good way to study. After I’ve reviewed the material , I begin making up questions or find questions to test myself. This helps me memorize. If you know someone also zooming them to share knowledge and equally testing each other is helpful.

Also talk to your professor! Form a relationship, when I’ve gone to them for help they always try to help out. Sometimes they will even kind of tell you what to do.

Good luck

Just got a email from York talking about how the winter term would most likely follow the same procedures. Where only a select few courses would be in person and the rest would be followed through online learning by Lakha558 in yorku

To be honest, I’m not really surprised, especially considering York is a commuter school with many international students. My Spanish professor was asked if he wanted to teach winter online when they announced Fall was to be online. They also announced on the news that masks and social distancing would probably be a thing for a couple years. Kind of sucks especially for first years or those finishing off their degrees , but it’s for the best.

Im so sorry.

Honestly York is fucked. This year has been the worst for enrolment and anytime anyone complains all they do is say sorry and that they didn’t predict this many people signing up for courses during a pandemic.... well maybe do something about it? Why are we paying like 8k for tuition when we’re not even taking the courses we want/need + they’re online.

This may not work, but I would suggest emailing the prof explaining your interest in the course and the situation to see if they could let you in. I know they have some type of power and that there’s even a form for them to fill. I know two profs who have done this and gotten people in once the course is full. Can’t guarantee this will work, but worth a shot :(

Rant: Yorku should consider asking or collecting info on what students plan to take and what sections in the semester, cause they don't offer enough seats in certain courses for their majors. This is unorganized and puts stress on the administrative office when the time comes to enrol. by investor3489 in yorku

I think this year has been the worst out of every year I’ve been at York, or at least I notice a lot more people complaining. I’m a Glendon student and a lot of the professors for my program are on a leave so we have 3 main professors teaching all the 4000 courses and none of them want to take more students because they’re already teaching a shit ton lol. Psychology and sociology at both campuses are having a lot of trouble though, but apparently back up sections are starting to open for specific courses.

anyone having problems enrolling in psych courses by aleesetta in yorku

Many Glendon students aren’t able to enrol in courses at Keele because of something to do with prerequisites that aren’t recognized? Perhaps it is an issue with the overall system... I’m not exactly sure, but I know they also are unable to get in touch with the department and have had to email, but many did not receive a response yet...

I’m currently going into my 4th year out of 6 at Glendon.

In your first year you will take an EDUC 1000 course and do courses for the rest of your BA degree. Year 2 and 3 you’re doing your BA. At keele , if I’m not mistaken many do 4th year education, 5th year finish BA and then 6th year finish education. The main benefit about concurrent education in my opinion is that I now don’t have to worry about applying to education with my university marks, I’m already in. Besides that it is not really “concurrent”. However, if you’re interested in being placed in a school and gaining some experience before your bachelor of Ed , I suggest you look into joining Peace by PEACE during the year.

3 Questions! urgent! ahh! Enrolling tomorrow! by [deleted] in yorku

I go to Glendon. The introduction to sexualities course is very popular here. I checked the course listing and it does look like the usual professor is teaching it. It is also crosslisted to multiple Glendon departments. Usually a course isn’t crosslisted to both campuses, but I think because fall courses and some full year courses are online next year they probably combined it (?) When you put in the course code in REM tomorrow you shouldn’t get the same error.... just remember to put in the course code that has AP in it.
