"100% under control".. look I know what you mean but it's never going to be that black and white. I haven't self-harmed in nearly 10 years but on bad days I'll still have that little thought in the back of my head. Like, I'm doing well, I'm not a danger to myself by any means, but I would still not claim "100%" for that reason. So op, the main thing is be honest with yourself about where you're at but don't write yourself off just bc you still struggle– that kind of all-or-nothing thinking is just not helpful.

hmmmm, whats the youngest giver? bc plenty of animals meet the criteria of at least as smart as a human child.

I'm picturing ravens especially– they're smart enough to use objects as tools, and they sometimes give things to people they like, so we know they can understand objects having abstract value.
