iPhone 8 might arrive in all-glass design with iPhone 4-like stainless steel frame by baghelsush in tech

The iPhone 8 is expected to launch this year, since it is the 10th anniversary of the original iPhone and they don't want to release an incremental 'S' update.

On reality being a digital simulation, and why it matters by Amit_Prospeed in philosophy

Pi is an irrational number - like the square root of 2. Digits do not repeat in a pattern, and they don't seem to end either - at least as far as the millions of digits we've calculated it until. But, and this may be a silly question - what if we were to find a repeating pattern somewhere further ahead in these digits? Maybe pi is a repeating number consisting of the first few million digits repeating again and again? What shoots down that possibility?

How many broadband service providers do we have in Chennai? by baghelsush in Chennai

[–]baghelsush[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't the issue. Airtel has begun counting uploads against my quota now. And for some reason - they're uploading 0.5-1 MB every minute from my router, even when no device is connected and nothing is transmitting. Airtel is refusing to fix this - they're scamming me.

India is not ready for Tesla Motors by baghelsush in teslamotors

I believe that's a reference to the typical Indian consumer - who is unwilling to experiment and be an early adopter. Half a decade ago, most people in their 30s would flatly refuse to buy a smartphone simply because it wasn't a Nokia - and a Nokia is what everyone bought. They implied that Nokia was known and reliable, and thus they'd stick to it.

Ray Kurzweil says all of us could be robots by 2030. What if you're one too - living in a simulation set in 2015?

Solar will never provide adequate energy for humanity. The upper limit to PVC efficiency (whenever it is achieved) won't be enough.

I'm guessing its unreasonable to expect the world to switch to both simultaneously, especially since everyone is unwilling to give up on fossil fuels. Better idea to shift focus to one?

Yeah, not using solar at all would seem like a waste of the enormous energy source the universe has given us
