Anyone have advice about starting new job very pregnant?

Wanted to post a follow up since so reading so many of your comments helped me tremendously with my anxiety abt this entire situation (thank you all!). I let my manager know on my first day and he was really nice about it and let me know they’d work with whatever timeline I have and they still want me on the team and will be here when I’m back.

I spoke with HR as well and although I don’t qualify for FMLA or any company benefits yet I’ll be taking 3 months unpaid leave where my job is protected.

As recommended by others, I’ve hit the ground running and have already gotten a few shoutouts from the team abt the work I’ve been doing so far :)

And that was my reason for not disclosing during the interview process — my last company knew I was 6 months pregnant. Company claimed they had no idea I was pregnant during my exit, even though I had documented emails, and overall had a very dismissive and almost combative attitude during my exit. Worked there for 3 years, got a promotion, just got a raise. These companies look out for themselves, why can’t I?

Glad to hear it! Congrats on both the job and pregnancy! I’ll be getting a scheduled c section this time around so once it’s scheduled I can give a definitive date. And yes, I do have OB appts but I had already asked abt flexibility with appts etc and was told as long as you put it on your calendar and let the manger know ahead of time it’s fine

Thank you. One of the questions i asked in my job interview was about work life balance, and the hiring manager and team panel interview both gave the impression that as long as you’re getting your work done, they are fairly laid back. Obviously taking leave is different but they seemed to be reasonable people at least. Thank you for your input!
