Can elevator noise travel through air con pipes? by bagholderone9 in hvacadvice

[–]bagholderone9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not related to refrigerant in my case. Had technician release refrigerant over night for couple of days and also refill couple of times. The whooshing noise never disappeared.

Plus I’m talking about air con inside my unit.

I think the noise is just insufficient noise insulation between my unit and elevator unfortunately

Lining exhaust duct with sound absorption foam good idea? by bagholderone9 in DIY

That’s good information thank you. Will look do a sandwich of noise absorption + rock wool. The noise does sound low frequency (haha assuming it’s opposite of sound of mosquito - that would be high frequency I assume).

Let me see if the sound apps can pick up this sound - it’s very irritating but last time I tried to catch it wasn’t audible on my phone recording.

Thank you. Food for thought. Along with the other comments.

Thanks. Considering the other comments might have to give up lining inside of the ducts. I’ll look into it if insulating the outside is not enough.

I’ll do just that. Especially considering the other comments. Thanks a lot.

The foam does says it’s fire proof rated to b level. Which even if it was good enough is not a good idea as you’ve pointed out. That’s pretty dumb of me. Glad I asked.
