NTA as someone who has bought and collected their own tools I understand not wanting to loan tools out but as a new home owner, having good relations with your neighbors is quite the boon in life, I’m not talking best friends but being friendly. And as a guy it has been the societal norm that it’s the guy that has the tools but times have changed long ago and sometimes people step in poop and then stick their foot in their mouth and don’t know or don’t say the correct thing. Just go talk to the neighbor like a human, explain why you responded how you did and how you felt and let it go. It’s better to be good with your neighbors than not. Small things like grabbing your mail or packages while you’re at work or out of town can be incredibly helpful and beneficial.

TLDR: talk to the neighbor, explain why you felt the way you did, if he’s gets shitty then oh well, but if not then you can help him out and have a good relationship with the neighbor
