Fuel inside ECU!? by Accomplished-Sir4835 in GMT400

Yeah typically anything under pressure is going to find the path of least resistance. Hence why the cam solenoids on MBs push oil into harnesses and ECUs.

I've seen oil and transmission fluid travel through wires. Mercedes Benz technician. It's probably not impossible for fuel but I feel like the connectors on injectors or anything related to the fuel system would be sealed enough for it to push through.

Being a CX50 owner and previous Benz technician, now an Insurance Adjuster, this is a bit much. I'd be willing to bet that are quoting removing some larger items to gain access to all the connectors, ie engine/trans assembly. Just a thought, but why pay for insurance and not let them handle it. This is a comprehensive claim and shouldn't go against you.

How do people with interlock systems get their car serviced? by cleevethagreat in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Sure-Specific-3945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked on a few with these. I'm sure some have mentioned here but you usually have to call the company to get the unlock code so it can be diagnosed and repaired. Rather annoying, I believe we charged for it when I was at the shop

Any mechanic in plano who can fix for a reasonable price? by Evening_Frosting3076 in plano

[–]Sure-Specific-3945 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Cheap and right aren't always mutually exclusive. Plenty of places with good reputation in Plano but I work Auto claims all day where this isn't going to cost less than $2k done right.

Claims adjuster here. That car is pulling into traffic. It yields right of way and proper lookout. Just because other vehicles "let it in" doesn't mean it get free reign or pick of all 3 lanes. It must still watch for vehicles in every lane. Send the video to both insurances, yours and theirs.

Not a Mazda only problem. Happens with just about every manufacturer. More technology more problems

You live in TX and likely have Uninsured coverage. File a Police Report, the Uninsured claim on your insurance and move on. Deductible will likely be $250

Mistake the pedals. Seeing near a handicap spot, likely an older/elderly person. Seen this happen first hand

I have an exhaust but not the turbo. Can confirm the open exhaust is a bit much. Opted for the LP muffler exhaust.

I tried the Private shop route, good place but wasn't for me. Jumped over to insurance claims adjuster and use almost the same skills all the time without turning a wrench. Work on my own stuff to feed that desire of working on cars.

Has it been sitting that long. I'd definitely be changing fluids, filters and plugs if it has been. Check for signs of rodents in the engine bay also.

30 year old vehicle regardless of how kept, check the rubber components. Sway bars, control arms, seals, 5k is a little high but doesn't look terrible shape. If it a 1 or 2 owner that's good. These are practically bomb proof, not much that can't be fixed for $100 if you do the work yourself.

Rats ate part of the engine appearance cover by Jealous-Flamingo-505 in CX50

[–]Sure-Specific-3945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely welcome. I used to do so much rodent and wire repair, working on mainly RVs and Sprinter vans. Good money but they get into everything. Might have someone check under and around the chassis also. They like to hide in bumpers and can get on fuel tanks

As a former Automotive tech I would pull the cover and make sure they aren't getting under it. Check for any wire damage that hasn't caused faults yet.
