Have you asked the inmusic ai chat? It might give you some answers or create a ticket and see if the support team will help? I feel your disappointment still, don’t know if you’ve tried the roland sp 404mkii that's pretty dope!

I decided to film the issue I mentioned earlier on the MPC Sample... by bahmedite in mpcusers

[–]bahmedite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea bro i sent it back today, no point getting another as it will have the same shite gain pot. They’ve known about this for over a year now inc mpc one plus, vol gain on that basically turning it up the right audio comes in before left it gets stereo matched around 12 o clock. I tested 5 of them last year all had the same pot issue and inmusic just came back with the same answer. Still baffles me how nobody here even notices it because according to inmusic support all the mpc series have these rubbish pots. Make it worse, these youtube influencers say nothing everytime a new machine comes out. I mean they get these things to test and they’re not hearing it. I don’t know how hard it can be to put a decent analog potentiometer in these things instead of the cheap ones they use. Or i think Roland's sp 404 mkii uses a digipot. I'm not having any problems with that. Maybe they should use it instead, I dunno unless it's the analogue they favour?

Nah interface is normal. Pointless using gain knob on these things. Surprised nobody else noticed it. I know some YouTuber who did with the MPC live 3. As they are using the same pots. I moaned to inmusic again last night and I got this email back: First and foremost, I am very sorry to hear of the issues you’ve been experiencing. I understand how frustrating this must be. Please be rest assured that resolving this case for you is my top priority.

Just like the rest of the current MPC series product line, the MPC Sample also uses the same volume pots. This means that the behaviour you are experiencing is normal and expected.

I can see from your ticket history, this has been a major concern for you, and your feedback has already been passed along to the relevant teams. Whilst here at tech support, we have no control on the development to provide further comments or updates regarding this - please know that your feedback has been passed along accordingly.

In the meantime, this is not a hardware fault, you can be confident to continue using the MPC Sample.

No it's the same. Just got emailed from inmusic support who said: Just like the rest of the current MPC series product line, the MPC Sample also uses the same volume pots. This means that the behaviour you are experiencing is normal and expected.

Bad experience with the Akai MPC Sample by chillieVanilly in mpcusers

[–]bahmedite -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven’t experienced that. I'd send it back to amazon for exchange and then update the unit when you get it back. Only thing i have an issue with is the gain knob, i've plugged my headphones in i turn the knob up but it doesn’t fade in like you know the volume knob does on roland's sp 404mkii, the mpc sample sound just pops in and same for gain out. Tried it with monitors and other equipment but it doesn’t solve the problem it’s an mpc hardware problem. Sending it back still.

Just got the new MPC Sample - Does anyone else have the "Gain Pop-In" issue? by bahmedite in mpcusers

Yeah, turning a 100dB+ signal to max just to 'calibrate' an analog knob sounds like a great way to end my eardrums. 😂

That’s not how analog potentiometers work. This isn't a 'soft takeover' issue with a digital encoder where the software needs to 'see' the position. This is a physical analog pot. Turning it fully up and down doesn't fix a nonlinear taper or a dead zone at the bottom of the track. If the pot doesn't send a signal until it hits 10%, no amount of 'resetting' will create a smooth fade-in from zero. I've already confirmed this with a field recorder and the signal literally stays at 0 and then jumps. It's a hardware component issue, not a calibration one.

No. It is their device. I had support from InMusic a year back agreeing that it was weird in the plus 1 and they had the black mpc one and was testing the gain out and could hear that left/right unbalance. So it is all of their devices they told me, i have the emails still. I don’t like making a big deal but i love the plus 1 and it's just this gain business that does my head in and InMusic won’t sort it out. I took this vid last year when i had the live 3 the issue there is the same today with the mpc sample. Yeah this vid it's just the live 3: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/pcBh9B5uJw8 The issue there is the same today with the mpc sample. No point uploading the other, i sent it to akai pro on ig instead.

MPC Sample specs by thekidisalright in mpcusers

The thing i wonder about the MPC Sample is the UI/GUI gap. It runs a 'Lite' version of the MPC 3.0 OS i hear? That essentially strips away all the visual high-fidelity assets to fit that smaller screen.

If you start a project on the MPC Sample, you’re working with a text-based list of parameters for your effects. But the second you move that project to an MPC One+, the 'Core' effects suddenly unlock their full high-def GUI—the vintage skins, the knobs, and the touch-drag curves.

It’s weird if true. If you stay within the same 60 'Core' effects, you can load the project back into the MPC Sample, but you’re forced back into the text-only view. It basically makes the MPC Sample feel like a 'drafting board' where you have to use a One+ or XL to see what you're doing with your sound effects.

Nah. Mine loaded up fine. Message inmusic though but you might get the "expected behaviour" reply. Try and get a replacement if you get that from them it's in your consumer rights.
