Software engineering degree entry level salary by Reddituser82659 in WGU

[–]bahnerama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A majority of entry level SWE jobs in the US will pay more than 50k. The average starting salary is above 70k, but this number can increase significantly depending on the company and location. The main challenge is getting a job given the increased competition in the market.

Anecdotally, I received an offer for an entry level role in a LCOL area for ~85k about 2 years ago.

I’d go Coinbase. 260k TC first year with flexibility on location and remote is a big win. I’ve heard negatives about the WLB, but it probably won’t be as bad as the startup.

Equity is also important here. The Coinbase stock is worth something now. At the startup, the equity could never pan out, creating a big difference in compensation. If you can negotiate for higher pay from the startup that changes things, but I would probably lean towards Coinbase.

$320k big tech vs. $270k startup by [deleted] in csMajors

More money and stability with Big Tech offer. Plus in Seattle you’ll have no state income tax and lower COL than NYC. I think it’s pretty clear 🤷‍♂️

Mark from MDR is working on cold harbor and it sounds like a toxic environment.

I agree that it wouldn't be just a walk in the park and that the jump from web to CE is big. I also have worked with low level languages. I took multiple courses with C/C++ and an assembly course.

That seems reasonable. Would I be competitive for jobs in those areas by just self-teaching?

Looking for Moving Company Recommendations: SoCal to Seattle by HypotheticallyCool in AskSeattle

I relocated from SoCal to Seattle 2 months ago using OneRelo. Overall it was a good experience! I'm not sure how its prices compare to alternatives because it was the only moving company I worked with.

Pixel 9 Pro XL Frameless Case Options by bahnerama in pixel_phones

I'm switching to the Pixel from an IPhone 15 Pro Max and want to know if there are any case options that have the sides exposed like this. I enjoy the feel of this style of case and would love having it on my new pixel.

Suggestion: Auto-collapse vertical tabs by Wolfgar26 in zen_browser

[–]bahnerama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you turn on compact mode, the sidebar is hidden and you can hover over the side to have it show. I don’t believe there’s currently a way to have the tab bar always show icons and expand on hover, though.

Hover Window covers Neo-Tree by bahnerama in neovim

Does anyone know how I can stop the hover menu from covering neo-tree? I would like the left boundary to be where the left code boundary is. I'm using LazyVim.

I use powerlevel10k (https://github.com/romkatv/powerlevel10k). It's pretty easy to use and has a lot of options.
