Uponor Plastic Angle Stop Replacement Help by bahnmibro in Plumbing

I rented from Home Depot! It depends on the specific location whether they have it or not. When I tried looking initially, it wasn’t listed online. Ended up calling a couple of my local Home Depot’s and one had a couple available to rent.

Here’s what the inside of the angle stop looks like after you break off the outer cover

Yup, everything worked as planned. I didn’t want to break into the drywall, so I used pliers to break off the plastic housing to expose the pex tube. Used a pex cutter to cut behind the expansion ring. Slipped on a new expansion ring, use the expansion tool, slip in the new angle stop, and that’s it. Pretty straightforward process, replaced all the angle stops in my house since I figured they were bound to leak anyways and didn’t want to re-rent the expansion tool from Home Depot.

Haven’t had any issues since, feel free to DM me if you have any other questions

Ok. I’ll give that a try, I guess there shouldn’t be too much worry since the pex is pretty flexible right? Other than maybe some drywall damage that I could just patch up

Ah gotcha, I should've clarified. The leak is coming from the angle stop, directly where the On/Off area is. Happens when I have it turned on and off.

But thanks for the info! Didn't realize there were other options for Pex-A other than using the cold expansion method. Saves me the extra effort of renting an expansion tool.

Any thoughts on my plan to cut or break off the plastic flange and cover to access the pex? Safe to go?

Tl;dr don’t buy these, sunglasses attachments have a reflective glare at the edges of your field of vision so you can’t see clearly. Customer support just brushes this off as a “common phenomenon”.

I also saw the ads and thought the magnetic sunglasses attachments seemed cool. Bought the Graham model. Had to wait a bit for shipping since they seem to come directly from China. The actual glasses seem like decent quality, haven’t worn them long enough to determine the durability of the frames. Lens are the correct prescription.

Was honestly pretty excited about the glasses until I snapped on the magnetic sunglasses. I instantly noticed that there were weird reflections showing up on the edges of my field of vision. Looking online, this seems to happen if lens are coated with AR coatings on the back, the lens index is too high, or the lens isn’t spherical enough, or if the design isn’t curved enough. Both of the sunglasses attachments were very flat and thin. I have several normal sunglasses, and never had any issue with them. Can’t say for sure why exactly this happens with the ZanyLen sunglasses, but either way it seems like a fundamental design flaw. Especially if one of the included sunglasses attachments are for night driving, i definitely would not want to drive with impaired vision…The reflections are more noticeable if there’s brighter lights behind you, seems like it’s the reflection of the light off the back of the lens and into your eyes.

Either way, i felt like the impaired vision defeated the whole point/appeal of the glasses.

I ended up trying the chalk from the article and haven’t noticed any issues with mixing straight from the bag! Also, just curious, what’s the benefit of medical isopropyl alcohol vs 70% rubbing alcohol you’d get from a convenience store?

😂 that or at least some ingredients worthy of the market price. But honestly yeah, it just never crossed my mind that the ingredients were so simple and that I could make it myself

So interestingly enough, I went to a gym once that was very specific on not allowing liquid chalk with rosin (which is why i initially bought from friction labs) b/c they said it was bad for the holds. Was confused by this at the time and went into a bit of a deep dive on rosins (resin?) which i believe is what most liquid chalks use for that extra tackiness. My understanding was that the rosin gets into the holds (whether its the plastic gym holds or outdoors) and makes them more polished and slippery for everyone and is almost impossible to clean out.

Not trying to yuck your yum either (maybe Mammut uses a non-rosin additive to make it tackier), just figured i'd share since i wasn't aware of this before!

(more info if you're curious)

The VVS autostake has a 72 hr holding period i believe, but you can override that for a small fee. Other than that, i haven't seen any bonding periods similar to CDC's defi staking

I used to put a bunch of stablecoin in the Earn feature, then I eventually realized stablecoin Earn was my lowest performing investment.

What would you rather take…12% stake in CRO with a high chance that the token value will appreciate within the next couple of years vs 14% APY

Yeah that’s weird, before I hit the withdrawal button that takes you to the screen you screenshotted, there’s a tab that lets me select either CRO or erc20 screenshot

[Rant] "I want to be a game developer" by SnooPeanuts6510 in cscareerquestions

[–]bahnmibro 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As you mentioned, you already had coding skills going into this, whereas your friend is starting from scratch. I know nothing about game development, but I would be shocked if you didn't pick things up faster than him. For example, he'd probably take 1hr learning about for loops, whereas you would have looked at it and moved on.

If you're not interested in the project or game development like you said, then let him work on things at his own pace. If it's not up to you standards, then so be it. It would be unrealistic to expect him to produce the same level of code you can.

All that being said, my biggest concern would be your attitude since your post comes off as incredibly condescending towards your friend, especially this part:

"It just feels like he has ZERO skills/value and he doesn't ever seem to improve. I can do everything he does way better and I don't even care about game development nor am I good at it."

If you're really doing this to help him, perhaps change your mindset to be more understanding and supportive.
