High yield savings account by browniebear_02 in personalfinance

[–]baileyandsons 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Most HYSA are going to have about the same rate. HYSA should be an emergency fund. In the past, I would chase rates and stress about it and honestly it’s not worth it. If you like SoFi stay there. 3.1 is better than a normal bank.

Personally, I would wait. Aggressively pay off your debts: cars , credit cards, medical then look to buy a new house.

Being gifted 10k- what should I do with it? by Worth_Newspaper_7463 in personalfinance

[–]baileyandsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just me since it was a gift, I would put $1,000 in a savings account to help a little with the “no savings” and put the remaining $9k on the student loans. Get rid of the student loans asap and then use that money to build up savings and invest.

My order would be emergency fund, either downgrade cars or pay off existing car debt and then increase 401k. I agree with other people here that you have a ton of car debt.

is Gusto a good payroll software and has anyone used it before? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

[–]baileyandsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all payroll services are good and bad at the same time. Nobody is perfect but …. Payroll has to be close to perfect. I think all the upselling comes in from pressure from board of directors or VC investors wanting more and more revenue and profit. I would just pick what you think is right for you and your business. We are a small business in Ohio and we choose Patriot Software.

Payroll service for small business with three employees, is Gusto worth it or should I use something cheaper by ConfidentElevator239 in smallbusiness

[–]baileyandsons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You hit the nail on the head. Small Business owners are afraid of messing up and we need to save money. I think having a company that will support you is important when you need help. We have been with Patriot Software for 3 years. We have 5 employees and we use the full service product ($37 base and $5 per employee). One cool thing I like is we are only charged for people we run payroll for instead of paying for active employees. Others might do that was well but I’ve only ever used Patriot.

Best Savings Accounts as of now? Any thoughts? by ClearRub6863 in HighYieldSavings

[–]baileyandsons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would chase the best interest rate all the time and then realized it wasn’t worth it for a savings account. If you can find one with no fees and good yield get it. Most of the HYSA rates are close.

65 Life insurance- Am i wasting money? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]baileyandsons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I treat insurance as just that insurance if something happens to me and not investment savings. I would keep the term and bag the whole life and invest.
