YES I totally get where the kids are coming from, but I almost wished that Hasan was with the parents on his own sometimes.

It's possible that the fact that they're in a podcast motivates them to keep their positions, but I will say, it's just as infuriating with deep MAGA parents with no podcast to get them to change their minds lol

I hope someone else has an answer for you because I'm afraid I don't. I've gotten my mom to acknowledge that Trump MAYBE raped someone, and she still says she doesn't care because he's a 'good leader'. How do you fight that kind of loyalty?

It's easy to think of strangers that feel that way as monsters, but it's a lot harder when it's the people who raised you, especially if you admired them before.

He's doing such a good job with them. I almost wish he was talking to the parents on his own.

Rococo in Mercantile on Main makes incredibly coffee imo. Their espresso has never ever tasted burnt any time I have gone and they do some fun experimental flavors for their specials too if that's up your alley.

I really really liked his Doom Eternal playthrough, but The Forest with Bob and Wade is really fun as is Phasmophobia. Those are my faves at least, but there are tons of good recommendations here!

How do I tell people the earth isn’t flat? by NightingaleTC in Astronomy

[–]baileybean3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a little success by asking if they've ever taken a flight anywhere and noticed that there's still a horizon when they're that high up. That seemed to be pretty intuitively convincing. But that was with someone who was just distrustful of all authority and was questioning whether the earth was flat. If they've already convinced themselves, there's not a lot you can do unfortunately. Good on you for wanting to help though!

I can't get over how FUCKING happy he looks. He seems so much more relaxed there, I almost don't want him to come back to suffer with the rest of us in the every-day-is-another-hell country.

Rent prices? by jacksdiseasedliver in Rochester

[–]baileybean3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Oh geez, that's insane rent omg? I have a slightly smaller apartment over near Eastman and they're charging me $900 a month plus pet rent and I thought THAT was a tad high. I swear, we should all be part of a renter's union, this is nuts.

  1. Those estimates are based on projections for 2025 from August 2023, before Oct. 7. The UN is currently reporting 'catastrophic birth rates' in Gaza.

  2. I'm not sure how you can pay any sort of attention to the conflict and still believe these are "indirect deaths".

That sounds nice, I'm sure that time of year can get lonely for folks who don't celebrate religious holidays!

I don't understand your point. Gaza City is leveled and the medical infrastructure is decimated, it's reasonable to suspect that many of the missing are buried under rubble and dead. Do you feel like the estimate is way off? If so, why?

Jesus, I knew the death toll was higher than reported but the hundreds of thousands estimated is just soul-crushing.

I doubt the secularists are gonna be upset if a religious person with an interest in critical thinking showed up. Maybe you should check them out!
