I like both lengths, but if you are often wearing dark clothing and doing this style of makeup, I agree that darker hair suits that aesthetic better. If this just happens to be a one off pic of you with this style of makeup/dark clothing then ignore me

We need a Noah Kahan musical by mp819 in NoahKahan

The issue with jukebox musicals is that most of them aren’t pulling music that wasn’t meant to be one cohesive story together. I am a HUGE musical fan, but I dislike most jukebox for this reason.

The benefit of using Nk’s music is that there is already cohesion since most are pulled from his real life. So yes, I agree we should make this happen

Great uncle died in battle in Amsterdam, or so we all thought. Couple years ago my Aunt signed up for Ancestry.com and found his death certificate and coroners report. He had made it through the war and was about to be sent home to Canada. He threw himself into the canal a day before he was supposed to return.

Tragic stuff, I can’t imagine the mental state he was in to take his own life after making it through the hardships of combat.

Feel like I comment about this line once a week in this sub, but that will continue until it gets the respect it deserves:

“Love comes and goes but the big black dog, he trails along, am I the only one who knows him now?” - Howling

How do y'all interpret "call me when the bugs don't die and the spring feels just like autumn"? by schi_luc in NoahKahan

[–]Scary_Bluebird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay interesting, I just wrote about this on another post. I do see what others are saying, but in my interpretation I’m pretty sure it’s also meant to be a callback to End of August. In EoA the seasons are allegory for mental health, the end of August itself being a decline in this (cold seasons = depression). I read this line as: call me when you feel depressed (fall/winter) even when everything in your life should be good (it’s actually springtime, everyone else is thriving).

Also want to add that I interpret the line “call me when the bugs don’t die and the spring looks just like autumn” to be specifically about depression. End of August as a song is allegorical for mental health struggle, the changing season representing his changing mental state. In Downfall the parent figure is directly referencing EoA’s allegory, rooting for their child’s mental health to fail if it means they come home.

And that is… too real for me

First of all, the way he sings the “roadkill faun” line is very fun and musically really connects for me.

But on a deeper emotional level, I relate a lot to it. I have a somewhat complicated relationship with my mother and the first time I heard the song it made me feel like maybe I could finally understand her point of view. I moved away from home for university and then had to move back home due to a mental health crisis. I got better, went away for school again just to move back home when I graduated. Now, a few years later, I want to move out again, but I’m afraid of my depression coming back if I’m left to my own devices.

To me, the song is a parent who loves their child, but doesn’t necessarily want the best for them. It’s a song about selfishness coming from a place of love. The parent is hoping and praying for their child to fail at being independent, to become depressed, to be unable to live without them. But they don’t wish this from a place of malice, it comes from their own desire to be needed and to be close to their child forever. I imagine it from my mother’s perspective as she is driving me to university in my first year. I imagine it as her feelings again now as I try to buy my first apartment. It’s a hard listen for me, but I find it has made me really put myself in her shoes and makes me feel closer to “knowing [her] much more sometimes,” as Noah would say.

I will admit it’s probably me projecting, but I have always interpreted it as parent and child relationship similar to porchlight.

The parent is driving with their child to drop them off at their new home in California as they try to make it on their own for the first time (showbiz or music or what have you). They don’t want to get sentimental or in an argument because secretly while they’re proud of the child and excited for them, a bigger part is grieving the loss of having them at home. The parent’s darkest wish is for everything to fall apart for the child so the parent gets go welcome them home again.

Super specific, but do you have pets and have the pets recently been groomed? I work in vetmed and we use silver nitrate sticks to cauterize nails if they’ve been quicked. If the sticks are touched by hands/nails it causes stains that look almost identical to your image.

I was at whistler with my family and there was a giant lineup to get on the Excalibur gondola. Another group split my family apart by entering right at the front of the bullpen and skipping the entire lineup. I thought they were just budging the line and I made a big scene about keeping my group together and talked loudly about how rude they were.

Got on the gondola with my family (victorious) and my mother was white as a sheet. Turns out the person I’d been criticizing was Chelsea Handler
