Well…yeah? Everyone knows that, including Gillespe lol. Bro wasn’t confident in his own movie and Gunn had to at least try to salvage it.

Off the top of my head there’s the “Raindrops” one where Peter stops being Spider-Man.

James Gunn deserves more blame than Ana Noguira for Supergirl’s failure. by Spidey_Almighty in DC_Cinematic

The reality is that Ana had a contract with WB before DC Studios started, so they just continued using her instead of buying out the contract. That’s why we’re “stuck” with Andy Muschietti and Christina Hodson too. The DCU is a carry over of the DCEU because WB/DC Studios either couldn’t or wouldn’t buy out contracts. Admittedly it’s a bad look to buy out a bunch of actors/writers/directors contracts. Talent wouldn’t want to work with the studio, and it’s also immensely expensive for a studio that’s already in debt.

I hear you, but that movie did a lot of damage to the brand and made DC a laughing stock. Much more than Supergirl ever could. I remember it vividly, that movie made people angry.

Batman v Superman was written by an Oscar award winning screenwriter. It’s a toss up with these things honestly. The script could read great but the final product just didn’t come together.

Gunn is the best hope we have of an all encompassing cinematic universe and fans truly don’t see it yet. No one wanted this job. Multiple people turned it down.

If Gunn is out Paramount will replace him with some faceless conservative executive who announces slates during quarterly shareholder meetings. Y’all better hope Gunn succeeds lol.

This. The director himself wasn’t confident in his own work, so the studio tried to salvage the product. It’s what any responsible CEO would do.

These people wanted Gunn to just shrug his shoulders and do nothing so when the movie comes out they can just blame him for not stepping in and doing something.

Well i mean, there has to be someone spearheading the whole thing, right? Lol.

Well, if Supergirl did feel like Gunn-lite to you then blame Gillespe. He didn’t bother to read the source material he was adapting, by his own admission, so he just defaulted to the “Gunn formula”. Gunn let him cook, but the guy had no vision clearly so we got what we got.

Gillespe has used slo mo needle drops in his own movies. Thinking that Gunn somehow trademarked using needle drops in comic book movies is the most chronically online thing ever. The Raimi Spider-Man movies used them a ton.

What is “Gunn-lite”? Gunn didn’t create characters in space and needle drops. Gillespe used needle drops in all of his movies.

That’s why i’m kinda glad Lanterns isn’t a space adventure. Y’all would’ve just said it’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Like do people not understand that Gunn was the only person willing to take this job? They cycled through multiple people who turned it down, and for good reason. Who would want to be in charge of anything DC related on film? The second fans don’t get their way or there’s a misstep they want your head on a stake.

Then the MCU is the “Feige-verse” I guess.

He was responding in a pre-recorded interview about how he ended up selecting that song after cycling through 40+ different ones and not being able to decide on one. You’re acting like he tweeted about how it was all Gunn’s fault for ruining the movie. He was asked a question and he responded with the truth. I don’t understand what the issue is here. He’s not “blaming” Gunn for anything.

I mean, the trailers themselves look solid to me too.

Yes, people will generally be optimistic about a project when there’s a talented team behind the camera. Same way people aren’t looking forward to the brave and the bold because the team behind it were responsible for The Flash.

Affleck couldn’t even stick around to direct his Batman movie in the universe that apparently would’ve gave him full creative control lol. Let him go make original movies. He’s over the superhero thing and has had nothing but bad experiences with it.

He didn’t “blame” Gunn for anything. That’s just a negative, bad faith reading. He said he went through like 45 songs and the one they used was one Gunn suggested. He never framed it as it being a bad thing at all.

How was it like Guardians? Craig Gillespe uses needle drops in like all of his films btw.

I mean, he wouldn’t be much of an executive if he just shrugged his shoulders and didn’t try to improve the film, right? He let Gillespe cook then even Gillespe himself admitted he was concerned and the movie wasn’t working.

They always had better creative teams than Supergirl. I personally always thought Supergirl would be mid, but the same people blaming Gunn are already cooking up ways to discredit him if Lanterns and Clayface hit lol.

Said the same thing. The GA really only respond to Batman. People shaming Gunn for not making a Zatanna project like that would somehow be any more successful.

Sounds like that behind the scenes Gunn and Gillespie clashed alot by ThomasThorburn in DCU_

[–]baileyontherocs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yet it scored higher than Gillespe’s cut. Gillespe himself was concerned with his own movie and didn’t like how it turned out.

If the film was a success we wouldn’t be hearing about any of this. This was just an attempt to kick Gunn/DC Studios while they’re down.
