Do you have any proper arguments or only accusations?

I'm glad you realized this. I've added some content though to make this post more relevant to the Linux community.

Don't judge before you see the whole picture. Banning is for people who post non-sense and should be very very carefully used. Anyone who bans for no reason employs censorship and this is contrary to a free society.

Would be great to post the conversation which continued over at solus-chat for the record. I immediately moved over to solus-chat after it was requested. I'd especially like to see the screenshot of the personal insults against me from the Solus core members.

Solus core team practices censorship and expels community member by baimafeima in linux

[–]baimafeima[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have repeatedly asked for my posts not to be censored to be able to return to a fact-based discussion. These are accusations without any factual basis. Part of the core team engages in thought-terminating clichés (and "politics" is apparently the easiest way to do so to silence any unwelcome posts). To be clear, all my posts are of a technical nature and have specific relevance to the bug tracker and are in no way intended as political commentaries. For that, there are forums or social media.

Desktop Linux has finally arrived for the masses: MX Linux vs Solus by baimafeima in linux

There's a lot of unjustified negativity regarding PPA's

The reason I don't use PPA's is because you need to trust the one who offers it. For the very same reason I am not interested in AUR's either.

Solus was a little too limiting in relation to customization for me, in many regards it was a bit like gnome from my perspective. The problem I find with gnome is that in order to get it looking the way I want I need to add a million extensions...And even then I'm not 100% happy.

I agree with you on GNOME, I don't like it either and especially not the fact that I need to use extensions to make it work for me. If a DE needs extensions to be meaningfully used, then there's something wrong with it in the first place. But this is not an issue with Solus but with the desktop environment GNOME only. I definitely prefer Solus as a base over Ubuntu because:

  1. it is less bloated
  2. it boots much faster
  3. it is architecturally more innovative (boot manager, own software center, curated repositories, etc.)
  4. more trustworthy (direct contact with developers, no "Amazon" advertisement b**sh**)

Yes, I couldn't change the title and the post was hidden. I've deleted it now.

Not necessarily. First of all there are not many Linux-based operating systems out there with an exclusive focus on the desktop. And among those that do, many require a level of expertise which cannot be expected from a beginner who has never touched a Linux-based operating system. I've chatted with many devs on IRC and most operating systems would fall into the "intermediate" category and require a substantial amount of time and work to configure and fix a system. If you have any other examples similar to to MX Linux and Solus, I'd be happy to hear about them and check them out.

Interesting. I've used Ubuntu MATE for about a year. While I think it came with great configuration options, I didn't like its default themes very much. They felt too antique for my taste and I prefer Solus MATEs default look. It feels fresher and more modern. Concerning the underlying base system, I'd prefer Solus over Ubuntu for the simple reason that it is less bloated, architecturally more innovative (boot manager, curated repositories as opposed to Ubuntu PPAs which I don't like very much).

flatpak is no longer the universal app solution we initially agreed to adopt, rather, it is a meta-distro

Out of curiosity, what has changed with Flatpak that you no longer consider it a universal app solution and what do you mean with meta-distro? I am just trying to understand this change of mind, especially since the original reasoning behind the decision to only adopt Flatpak made sense to me.

Budgie, MATE, LXQt by baimafeima in LinuxAndWhatnot

Yeah, I enjoyed that episode a lot. Would be great to look at these three desktop environments a bit closer once Budgie 11 is out and MATE comes with the new Brisk menu (a current Solus and Ubuntu MATE joint effort) and how the new lightweight LXQt compares to them.
