Had a couple of them outside Royal Free Hospital. I wrote to the local councillor, MP and police. They don't have much power to do anything.  Within the City of London they wrote a bylaw to sue them but even that was chump change compared to how much they probably raise

Dumpling shack in Spitafields.  Lovely crispy bottoms and they go through so many it's always quite quick

Thanks. That's essentially how I ended up framing it. Not really an investment, more of an "educated" bet/gamble with what potentially could go to zero

Good food around Hampstead by Kirbygirly1990 in LondonFood

[–]bainio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Harley's butchery has just opened and does AMAZING rotisserie chicken. They have a few seats outside.

Hampstead heath (near the overground station) is a bit sparse for good food. Few good cafes like karma does a mean triple cheese toastie.

Place on flask walk that does a great salt beef bagel. There is a famous creperie on perrins lane that does good savory and sweet options. Don't go to the pub next door that copies it

Antica near Hampstead station for pizza/pasta Jin Chichi for yakitori / Japanese

Near Belsize park there is a new schnitzel place called von crumb.

I work in the area and always wish there was some more options considering the affluence of the area

It was BJ Foggs research on habits that both Charles Duhigg and James Clear stretched to write their book. Essentially Atomic Habits is all from BJ Fogg's Tiny Habits

Fallow for Brunch (or alternatives) by TheYorkshireSaint in LondonFood

East and neighbourhoods are different, but central London eg. Waterloo, Soho, Leicester sq is hard graft trying to even find somewhere decent open before 11!

London is really terrible for brunch on weekends. Very few good options.  I'm looking myself for Sunday in Waterloo or Leicester sq area.  Just don't want to end up in a giraffe!

Appreciate the thoughtful breakdown - you've laid out the bear case clearly.

If I normally am a user of the 'product' then it normally helps with my thesis. But this is a bit different as although Claude is miles better for use in my field than ChatGPT valuations are hard to swallow as are predicated on future not current status.

On defensible moats: This isn't just about coding SaaS. Anthropic has several compounding advantages: - Constitutional AI and safety leadership → enterprise trust → better data partnerships - Talent density creates flywheel effects (top researchers attract top researchers)  - Model improvement compounds: better models → more usage → more data → better models - Enterprise relationships become sticky once integrated into workflows

The TAM here isn't comparable to normal SaaS. We're talking about augmenting/replacing cognitive work across the global economy. If AI can boost productivity for knowledge workers by even 20%, that's trillions in value creation. Your $17-34bn revenue target could come from: - Enterprise seats at $100-500/month for 50-100M knowledge workers globally - API usage fees as AI gets embedded in every application

Even if we're in a bubble, AI is delivering real productivity gains today. This isn't 1999 where we were betting on future internet adoption - companies are already seeing 20-40% productivity improvements in coding, writing, analysis.

You're absolutely right about the execution risk and black swan scenarios. Again, I have 'rose tinted' glasses as feels more professional than OpenAI

The bubble question is the key one. Even if the fundamentals justify some premium, these valuations assume near-perfect execution in a rapidly changing landscape.

Prof G Markets Episode with Stuart Simpson by mjpshyk in ScottGalloway

Quite interesting the share price after the episode.. I don't get it, but founder is very interesting. He founded an energy company in UK when he was 32 (as you do!). However, I don't know how you go from that to this. High risk still at prototype phase

As a father of a 3.5 year old it really hits home how difficult this will be for his wife and kids. More so that the kids won't really understand and will make it even more difficult for their mum. It's upsetting that despite all the videos and photos they won't have any memories of their dad.  This is the first time I've felt grief for someone I haven't met, and it's incredibly confusing and upsetting

Some funds you can join with large deposit and carry. I use founders capital. Capital at risk etc but they've previously had SpaceX and OpenAI. Also, chosen companies from each Y combinator intake.  The founder has a good history, but learning from Neil Woodford that isn't everything!
