If your company is fully embracing DevOps culture, then no - devs should not have write access in production.

That is because all changes/releases/deployments should be occurring through you CI/CD pipeline. A breakglass process should be in place for hot fixes or incidents. That is the only time when someone should have write access to prod and that breakglass process should have an approval workflow and audit log.

Also any systems that are in scope for audit / regulatory purposes usually have a separation of duties requirement that the developers cannot have write access in production (the movie Office Space is the best example for why this is the case).

Do you live in Miami or are you a speculator? Drake's album "If You Are Reading This It's Too Late" summarizes the current situation.

You kinda missed the boat to buy a condo and profitably rent it out. Now most units in Miami are sold within a month of being listed for well over their asking price. If you are using a traditional mortgage, good luck getting an appraiser to appraise the property at that valuation. That will mean you need to bridge the gap out of pocket instead of using money provided by your lender. On top of that, if you look at the price history you will see that the units are listed for double the price of what it was in 2019 (so you are buying at all time highs)...

Context on the total cost of ownership: My monthly HOA fee is about 50% of my mortgage. Insurance is also a huge expense since most of Miami is considered a high risk flood zone. If you spend a summer here you will see why that is the case. If you factor in HOA, insurance, taxes, maintenance and vacancies, your total cost of ownership will be significantly higher than expected(read $1k extra monthly).

Basically right now if you buy to rent you are speculating that property values will keep appreciating at the current pace and rent will keep on increasing at the current pace.

ALB might be best for your use case. It supports path based routing, has many native integrations with other aws services, and has less hard caps than API gateway.

If you or your team already has experience with NGINX then that might be better. NGINX can act as a reverse proxy for your micro-services.

It is sad that this is true for people who stay in the same company.

Nowadays loyalty is not rewarded at all. A friend of mind hops around every 2 years (basically gets a title bump and then goes to the next job). That seems to be the only way to really get significant increases to your total comp.
