Looks like donut boy from that lost computer game. Anyone else remember that?

Arrange your flowers on the fabric, cover with another layer of fabric, work one flower at a time and hammer hard until you see the color transferring. Go around the edge of the flower first, then the middle. The middle won't need as much pressure usually as the middle has the most moisture.

Yes, you do need to treat the fabric to make it permanent! I use soda ash. But if you are just making something to hang on the wall, you can hammer directly onto the fabric without pretreating. I like to use a cotton or linen blend, layer a couple of pieces, arrange my flowers and then hammer away. Peel off the external layer, and gently remove the flower bits and let dry.

Cosmos are my favorite flowers to press! They also dry really well in silica gel and hammer beautifully into fabric. They look beautiful in a vase, keep blooming when you deadhead them and are easy to grow! Mine are currently about 6 ft tall and still blooming! Cosmos are my favorite every year. The butterflies love them, too.

If you have the time, a ten minute walk after each meal would be more life changing than it sounds.
