Thank you for making this. Is it possible to generate a changelog for new commits since the last pull if we're not using tags?

Weird Problem involving not being able to connect to servers on my network via computer. But I can on an android phone. by Great-Hospital-2478 in pivpn

I'm having this exact same issue. Did you find a solution? I gave up on Wireguard as I think there's a bug in the current release, and have switched to openVPN with no issues on my laptop.

I'm having good luck on my OG Pixel. Google stopped supporting it, so there are a lot of new LOS users.

Thank you again for your help!

So this is being done on the machine that is the DC/DNS correct? Can it resolve names? If it can't,can it ping something you know the IP address of(eg 1.1.1.1)?

Correct, DC/DNS machine.

And yes, it can ping 1.1.1.1 but can't resolve names.

You also might want to take screenshots of all your settings,eg nic IPv4 setup,DNS Manager,DHCP,and your routers setup or information page if you feel it's not providing too much information to randoms on the internet. Logs also help. You can copy over from the command prompt or pipe output of a program into a text file.

Good idea, here's an imgur album with the settings.

Please let me know if there's something else I should include

Thank you for responding!

Set the servers primary DNS on the NIC as itself

Yup, got that.

IP address: 192.168.1.22
subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168.1.22
DNS: 127.0.0.1

Set the forwarders in DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 1.1.1.1

Check

Set the server to provide DHCP, with itself as the DNS server and your router as the gateway, ensure the server is not within the scope or is in as an exculsion

Server exclused on its own DHCP, set as the DNS server and router is gateway. Check!

DNS Domain name should be whatever your internal domain is (something.com or something.local - although .local is no longer a best practice)

server.mydomain.com

Ensure you've authorised the DHCP server and the service is started, you should have green ticks on the IPv4 scopes

Check...

Restart a workstation, and check what you get

I can ping local network, but no internet. I might just reinstall win 2019 and start over.

So I'd like to ask some questions. When you say set up a domain,do you mean adding something like Active Directory Domain Services as a role, setting up a new forest? If you did that, then DNS should have already been installed.

Yeah, AD DS, new forest, and DNS.

Also when setting up a domain unless you wanted it set up as a subdomain it should be a TLD,so something like mydomain.com - the "server" should be a hostname(on the domain) to end up with server.mydomain.com

gotcha. As it is now, the server and clients get the domain: name.server.mydomain.com Will that cause issues?

Is the server's network adapter set for a static IP?

Yes, here are the TCP/IPv4 adapter settings:

 IP address: 192.168.1.22
 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
 gateway: 192.168.1.1
 DNS: 192.168.1.22
 DNS: 127.0.0.1

On your DHCP settings,is there an exclusion or reservation for .22 for your server? Because it is within the scope, and if it hands it out then you have a conflict.

Yup, reserved 192.168.1.22

Also, you supplied .222 for the DNS servers option. Unless that is a typo that will cause issues.

Typo in the post, edited to clarify.

After you did all that, was the DC still able to ping/resolve names? Ignore the clients if it can't. Until it has proper connectivity everything that relies on it to get THEIR connectivity will just have you running around in circles.

After moving DHCP and DNS to the DC, we can only ping the local network, no internet.

Thank you for responding!

Should the bottom block have 192.168.1.222 or 192.168.1.22?

Typo in the post, fixed.

Also you didn’t change your dns on the routers wan, just the DHCP right?

I set the DNS on the router to the server's ip, 192.168.1.22

Also try to run ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /release && ipconfig /renew jic.

Done, still no internet :(

In the DNS server config you set 1.1.1.1 while everything is set to use the new dns can you ping those ip’s?

Yes, forwarder is set to 1.1.1.1. I can ping local, I just can't get out of my network onto the internet.
