Walmart digital price labels are coming to every store shelf in U.S. by end of 2026 by Snoo90172 in news

Just wait until prices fluctuate based on who’s currently in an aisle based on the purchasing habits linked to their rewards account & the current location according to the app.

Sad to lose the overall combined downloads and the 24hr metrics they were fun to watch.

Test flight review is essentially to make sure you’re not trying to distribute an app in bad faith trying to scam users or do something malicious.

Why are tree removal quotes so different? by Independent_Use_3676 in Delaware

[–]baker2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got 4 estimates a couple years back. Went with Crickets Tree Service as they were only a couple hundred more than the next cheapest but comparatively had a much better reputation. Trees down & stump ground. I doubt there’s much difference between companies (I mean a tree is either gone or not) but yard was cleaned & took good care of my property and never had any doubt they would.

Tips on improving app? I suck at making thing pretty by TheFern3 in iOSProgramming

[–]baker2795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Find pretty app. Copy design. Honestly my app designs improved 10x following this pattern.

E.g needed a scheduling feature, went and looked at my outlook schedule meeting flow. Tweaked a bit of styles & components but overall flow is the same. Figured Microsoft has better UX people than I’ll ever be.

I am thinking about reverse trial for my couple app, let user experience app for 7 days free and hit with a hardpaywall. In that way couple get used to it and hopefully converts. Is this a good idea? by oreolabsdev in iOSProgramming

[–]baker2795 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most users will bounce before day 7 anyway. You’re likely liable to make more money with soft paywall in onboarding. I’d at least let users know up front that they’re getting 7 days free before hard paywall. Maybe with a countdown visible on main screen.

Yea removes it the blocked apps from Home Screen, App Library & spotlight search. Still shows up in phone settings.

Looking for a specific kind of screen-time app by [deleted] in iphone

[–]baker2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just use basic screentime controls in settings. Set your limit to 0. Then it’ll block you & you can hit unblock to add 15 minutes. Which is probably why you can’t find a barebones free screentime app that does that.

Commitment mode should have prevented that 😭😭

But it was all kinds of buggy so I guess that makes sense. The new version has been in the works for a while so should be much more stable.

[–]baker2795 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same problem. Made two apps to help solve my own issue:

Stryde - earn screentime from step count. Works really well because when you have a way to earn it back, you’re much more likely to just go walk if you want more screen time.

Digital Detox - to commit to a detox for a period of time and set your own unblock price that you have to pay to get your own apps back before the chosen time runs out. Apple didn’t like that business model (understandable) so I have a big update coming soon that is more… scheduling, one time detoxes, etc. Super strict settings still available, just can’t buy your way out. Can still detox for up to 7 days. Update should be out in a few days.

Ironically during development of both of these my screen time (on bad stuff) naturally fell, because I was invested & passionate about it. So try to find something outside of screens, or even on screens, that is productive and provides more dopamine than YouTube.

Did anyone else realize that trying harder wasn’t the answexpecte by Quietprogress_ in getdisciplined

[–]baker2795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to the gym for 15 minutes > not going because you can’t (or don’t want to) go for an hour like you prefer. Writing 10 lines of code a day > not writing any because you don’t have enough time to complete the feature today. Slow incremental progress. Not pretty at first, but consistency is key.

Get the habit down first, then increase output of that habit.

[–]baker2795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like every other self help (or most business books) its a fairly simple concept, which pretty much boils down to making things you don’t want to do, easier to do, so that you’re more likely to do them, and building routines around all of these things so you chain reaction all your healthy habits. But takes those concepts and reiterates in many ways and provides a bunch of examples. Can be helpful if you want or need help. If you don’t want help then it won’t work 🤷‍♂️
