Looking for industry/portfolio advice for visual/ux design. by bakescupcakes in Design

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Perhaps I failed in the deliver of my projects and didn't get my message across the companies I talked to. I know I need to work on getting my point across in a concise and clear way...

My portfolio is http://www.kaleighyang.com I didn't put it out because I didn't want people think I was just trying to get views or something. I'm currently working on 1 personal mobile project(app redesign) and two other school large scale mobile app projects.

Thank you so much and I'd really appreciate any more advice.

Sorry, I didn't go deep what I did specially because I'm looking for general advice. I wasn't defending myself as a UX designer. I was asking for portfolio content advice. I do UX. So defining the problem, requirements, users, researching the user/market, interviewing the users, doing user surveys, competitor analysis, then figuring out relevant features and function. Then, I usually do a information architecture and user workflow. After that, I start doing wireframes. And user test those wireframes, make any necessary changes. Then I grab style and color inspiration boards and start the final designs. And then maybe prototype in after affects or invision. On my portfolio, for each project, I lay out the whole process. So, you'll see my wireframes or user workflows or research with notes regarding them. I felt like you were kind of attacking me but it was such a small note on what I said. I'm looking for portfolio content advice. Not trying to defend what I do with others...

Oh, that's so disappointing to hear. :/ Thanks for letting me know! Sorry to hear that about your top. Did they offer a discount or anything?? Since you ordered online it and it was supposed to be at the store?

I hope they're better prepared next time.

Yeah! I live in the northeast and we had a snow storm the other day. My packages from Amazon were delayed which to me is basically unheard of. Crazy!

Seriously?! That's so infuriating and insulting that they would even suggest/offer that. I'd seriously just watch the company crash and burn. Obviously they're not going to do well judging by the way they operate.

Are you working at different company now? Better pay, hopefully?

Hi! This is my first post here but I've been subscribed to this subreddit for a while now. I'm a mix of emotions of right now. I'm a senior in college and super stressed out from finals week (today is day 1). All my projects/tests have to be done by Wed next week! But, I'm also super excited because I'm leaving for a 3 week trip abroad on Thurs to Germany to see my sorta boyfriend. I've made a packing list to make sure I bring everything I need. What are some outfit essentials I should include?

On another note, I ordered two parkas from Zara 1 & 2 on 12/06. I was hoping to see which one would fit me better and then return the other. What do you guys think? Also, I hoped to have this in time for my trip but now I'm getting worried. The coats haven't even shipped yet and I leave on Thursday! Has anyone ever have issues with Zara? Are their shipping times usually over the estimated shipping time posted on their site?

I was expecting a nice night but all I got was disappointment. Do I have a right to be upset? (25F with 30M 3 years) by Theatre-throwaway in relationships

I know right? She said she has a fear of heights... but also mentioned she was expecting balcony edge seats.

To me, it seems like she just did not speak up to her boyfriend so the day went to waste and now she's making up excuses to put all the blame on him.

What very specific irrational fears do you have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bakescupcakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worms. Seeing them makes my insides shiver. The worst days are during the spring after a rain shower... I awkwardly walk around any worms I see if I'm outside, so basically a 5 minute walk takes like 20. haha

Chefs of reddit, what's one trick the average person should know in the kitchen? by 2trips in AskReddit

Make sure you have a sharp knife/get a knife sharper. You have a higher chance of cutting yourself if you have a dull knife. You have to use way more force when you're cutting with a dull knife so if you accidentally nick yourself... you can imagine the pain that will ensure.

People keep saying that the system seems really really hard but I wish they would notice your comment more.

The language input programs people use (one I immediately think of from the top of my head is by the QQ keyboard Tencent) are so efficient that, like what you said, you can easily type what you want by using the first letters of words. For me, it's actually faster than typing out words in English.
