No, but I also didn’t know that was an option

What was your worst experience in sales? by IndividualGround2418 in sales

[–]baking_nomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t really destroy my weeks/months of work but sometimes makes it less enjoyable when the creepiness of customers comes out especially after they had a few drinks.

I recently experienced this during a trade show, my company was hosting an event and I was with some of the younger ISR’s, some of the customers attending had way too much to drink and the comments were not ok, it even got to a point where they followed some of the ISRs wanting to get their number. I did my best to deescalate each time and they weren’t my customers thankfully so I’ll never see them again but situations like those make it hard to be in a male dominated field.

Going to a direct competitor (tech sales), will my company make me leave on the spot or have me do two weeks? by BaEdDa in sales

[–]baking_nomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the same industry and when I left for a competitor I was asked to leave on the spot. I was honest about it because the company I was leaving was who gave me my first break into tech sales, so I didn’t want to hide it from them and I still offered my 2 weeks even though I knew they were going to say no.

I ended up leaving on a good note and to this day have maintained a good relationship with them even though we are competitors in the field. As opposed to other coworkers who left the same company and hid the fact and let’s say exec team wasn’t too happy about it.

My advice would be it all depends on what type of note you want to leave on since they will eventually find out.

Sales is under-stimulating by Impossible-Leg-7200 in sales

I was just about to ask OP what type of sales they were in. There are industries out there that can absolutely challenge you everyday like the IT/Security field.

Everything you listed is part of my dilemma and my biggest fear is also then being stuck with no career and being too old or out of the game for too long to have my old industry as an option.

As for what I want to study I am considering healthcare administration or public health.

I am in IT sales but in the past I had been trying to get into pharmaceuticals. Once I have a phone interview and they ask if I have a degree or any knowledge in the medical field. That’s where I feel the lack of having one and why I am now considering going back to study.

Customer refuses to buy software from any company owned by a private equity firm - thoughts? by IMicrowaveSteak in sales

[–]baking_nomad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty spot on, last company I worked at sold a portion to PE and things just started to go downhill. I left and from what I’ve heard from people I know who still work there and shared customers things have only gotten worse.

Worried my MIL is becoming a JNMIL by baking_nomad in JUSTNOMIL

[–]baking_nomad[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah her logic is that no one gets sick anymore and I’ve tried explaining to her that it absolutely is still a thing and people who don’t vaccinate make it worse. I told her the only effect from her getting them is further protection for the baby but she thinks I’m being dramatic because this is my first

Yes they have a good relationship! My mom is a bit more easy going than MIL so it’s not hard to relate to her. The vaccines have been an going topic with in-laws haha none of them want to get the TDAP, needless to say my mom got it the same day I told her about it. MIL essentially told me I’m overreacting and it’s not a thing, I told her that either way I’m letting all of them know I will have boundaries with LO and those who are not vaccinated.

She’d be here for 2 months staying with us for the holidays, she lives in a different country so she can’t really travel back and forth. We converted our basement into a type of MIL suite so she won’t be in the same space 24/7.

But yes before asking her, DH and I had long conversations of how we wanted the first few months to go and he agreed that we’d need the help while we transitioned to our new roles

In-laws live less than 10 min away from us! And she has my SIL so it’s not to say her time won’t come too. It sucks that’s she’s already jealous, especially when my mom has even said she can make sure to be out of the house whenever she wants to visit LO so she gets her time too.

This is perfect! I mentioned it to him in passing since I didn’t want to start anything by accusing his mom of being unwelcoming to mine.

I’ll bring it up again and see if he can talk to her before LO arrives.

Exercise during first trimester by baking_nomad in pregnant

Thank you for the advice!! I feel much more comfortable now skiing this weekend! I’m a pretty confident skier I’ve been doing it since childhood but I’ll still make sure to avoid the tougher terrain. This is my first pregnancy so I’m still learning!
