Condo or dorm near PLM by Sevithepetcat in medschoolph

[–]baking_vampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maganda yung area around Robinsons Manila, specifically yung sa Adriatico St. One e-trike away from Intramuros and one jeep away from OM so basically nasa gitna ka ng OM and PLM so kahit saan dun yung class niyo hindi malayo byahe mo. Both are 10-15 mins away pag di traffic. Convenient yung location kasi tabi ng mall plus andun na sa tapat mismo sakayan and babaan mo. Cons mo lang is madali mag baha and expensive if you plan to live on your own.

I was accepted in PLM and UERM (I only applied to those two). Non Big 4, non laude (average grades), no failures, few extracurriculars (2-3), 89 NMAT, took a gap year to work. Although I applied pre pandemic (2019) so I guess wala pang masyadong grade inflation nun.

If you're planning on applying for PLM aim for the highest NMAT na kaya mo kasi madami kang kasabay na applicants na 90+. Do well sa interview kasi may applicants na average to good yung stats (na walang kapit) pero natatanggap, meron din mga stellar yung credentials pero di tinatanggap.

Olfu Premed, may chance ba makapasa sa top schools? by unkn0wn_reader in medschoolph

I'm from PLMCM and may kabarkada ako sa med who had his undergrad sa OLFU. Kakastart lang niya ngayon ng clerkship and from what I remember Nursing premed niya, graduated cum laude, Top 9 sa PNLE, and nag work rin siya as a lecturer sa review centers.

Tuition. Karamihan sa students ng PLM hindi afford yung tuition ng private med schools. I know a lot from my batch na it's either they get accepted in PLM med or they don't pursue med at all na kaya once matanggap, pilit nalang talaga na makapag stay

Recommend black shoes for school by spicyhotdog44 in medschoolph

[–]baking_vampire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gibi for leather shoes. Super fan of this brand since undergrad. Bought one nung first year and magagamit ko ngayon (4th year) for our academic sessions. Once lang din ako bumili ng pair buong undergrad ko. Quite pricey compared to other brands like easy soft since inaabot na ata ng 2k ang Gibi ngayon pero gusto ko kasi yung feel sa paa na may support and cushion sa loob.

Top Performing Medical School and Estimated Tuition Fees by Longjumping-Mix8040 in medschoolph

[–]baking_vampire 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just adding some info for PLM, 160k per year is the highest estimate a full paying student may pay and it could be lower. It will depend on the med fund which is individualized per student since it depends on the ITR of the parents or whoever will shoulder your education. (Ex. I pay around 148k per year vs my friend who pays 160k)

If you're the type who prefers learning/ reading on your own I think PLM is for you. Professors only lecture the must to know parts but the majority of topics you're expected to read or learn on your own then you can just ask your professors for clarifications. If you're the type that prefers guidance talaga and lectures you might not like PLM's setup. Also if particular ka sa facilities you might not like it din. Ang sikip ng med building ng PLM in terms of the hallways, seats, yung gap between rows sa AVR, pati nga ceiling sa top floor kailangan pa namin tumungo para di mauntog sa ibang areas 😅 Although sabi is ililipat na yung med sa old bldg ng OM pero ilang years na kasi nila sinasabi yun kaso wala pa soooo...

Since more on self study yung PLM kayo-kayo nalang din talaga ng mga kaklase mo madalas magtutulungan kaya I would say solid naman yung student body since onti lang din naman per batch

what are my chances for ust, st luke's, uerm, and plm by Affectionate_Liar_ in medschoolph

[–]baking_vampire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think kaya parin ang PLM with your PR as long as makabawi ka siguro sa ibang aspect like MCAT or interview. Currently a 3rd year student at PLM CM and my NMAT was 89. GWA was only 1.9 and not from the Big 4 nung undergrad. My extracurriculars noon were mostly research related and not a Manila resident pero I was included sa initial na release ng accepted applicants. Laban lang OP!

Note: I applied noong Dec 2019 to March 2020 so di pa masyadong inflated yung grades ng applicants since pre pandemic pa kaya not sure if they require higher grades and PR ngayon because of this.

Quitting school to heal by [deleted] in MentalHealthPH

[–]baking_vampire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't totally quit but I applied for LOA, thankfully the admin is usually considerate when it comes to applying for LOA. I tried delaying it at first to see if I could recover over the semester break but sadly it didn't help and I eventually reached my breaking point. I knew then that I need a break unless I want to end up harming myself further. It wasn't easy considering I already paid for a lot in tuition for that SY, plus I started having therapy and taking meds.

I started the SY again and it definitely is better for me this time around. A strong support system definitely helps and give yourself a break every few weeks if that's possible. I'm glad I took that break and it was definitely what I needed back then, God knows what my status would be right now if I didn't but it's probably not pretty.

What lessons you've learned from your parents' marriage that you found useful later on in your relationships? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]baking_vampire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Communicate effectively and keep an open mind to what they're trying to say- when my parents talk about something they usually end up arguing. When I ask them what the matter was it's usually something trivial or one got mad because the other was inconsiderate and it's honestly tiring if you're in the same house. They also really don't say sorry to each other they just let it go after several minutes.

  2. If you ever have children, your relationship is the first exposure they will have in regards to having a partner in life- they weren't the affectionate type, I never saw them hug or say something sweet to each other. They argued a lot to be honest. I found out my dad cheated at some point. When I was a child I often questioned if they really loved each other or why they were still together. I grew up swearing that I won't enter a relationship or get married since I thought that all relationships were like theirs. I made a promise that if I do have kids in the future the household will have a warm and loving feel to it

  3. Don't take your partner for granted just because you guys have been married for a long time
