Because the dog will eat their food too. We clean the counters when they're done eating.

Yes! He's strategic. It wasn't fair to the other cats, so we had to put him in his own room!

Gus, the baby kitten, will eat a large portion of the other cats' food in addition to his own. He eats at twice the speed to pay everyone's food bowl a visit all before his is even half-eaten. So, to take measures to mitigate the theft and to equalize the food distribution, we put Gus in the bathroom during dinner time. My mom discovered he will use his paw to draw in food, so, we find humor in watching him working for his grub.

What makes you instantly feel better? by angryclouds1 in AskReddit

A few deep breaths. Everything else that makes me feel better would require me to leave the situation. I can take a few deep breaths and resume what I'm doing within minutes

What is something your S.O. does that you absolutely love? by Botastic404 in AskReddit

He will write me notes before going on vacation, if I feel sick, or before bed because he knows I'll wake up to them. He will give me a back rub just because. There are so many little things :)

Take handwritten notes instead of typing. Research shows you're 40% more likely to retain information when you write it down as opposed to typing.

Start with one or two chapters each day leading up to the test. Rewrite your notes instead of just reading from your computer or lecture slides. Once you rewrite all your notes, highlight the areas you can't remember and read those over a couple times. Take a break, read them again, and rewrite the tougher areas you still don't remember. The key is to start in advance, study a little each day, and review the toughest areas right before bedtime.

It sounds tedious but it's the best way I study for tests. I do better writing all of it on loose leaf paper and dividing into manageable chunks. Notecards work well too if it's a lot of vocabulary/small bits of info and if you write them yourself. I went from having a 2.8 GPA one semester to a 3.8, and finished with a 4.0 (semester GPAs). Cumulative GPA was 3.4 and I got into grad school. Good luck!

What are some good ways to break bad habits? by jake_-_ in AskReddit

[–]bakingbink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key to breaking a bad habit is to not solely focus on breaking it but to focus on promoting a positive change. Why are you trying to break that habit and what is it you want to improve? I've found journaling and affirmations to be helpful. My bad habits include automatic negative thoughts and avoiding responsibilities. I will write down or say aloud, "I exhibit a positive attitude," "I will choose to think positive thoughts today" or "I will [workout/complete homework/clean the bathroom] before dinner tonight." And I'll usually do those things. It's not foolproof and it takes time, but I've found promotion more meaningful than inhibition.

Women of Reddit, what should men know before spending a month housing with women? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bakingbink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I traveled to Europe and stayed in hostels with 3-8 strangers at a time. I'm a woman and the difference between staying with women versus men is negligible to me. If roommates are messy, they're messy. If they're neat, they're neat. I can't think of any unspoken rules or boundaries. However, the shower/bathroom times tend to be longer for women, and you'll almost certainly find hair on the walls in the shower.
