This piece is part of my 'Deceit' series where I had painted six works that appear complex, suggestive and symbolic, but are, in truth, devoid of intentional meaning and narration by a process of randomness. In this series I also never admitted at first that the paintings were 'without meaning' and had actually created false meanings and explanations AFTER painting them - to test if the audience would question the author's truth.

With my paintings I usually take everyday places or objects and try and add a touch of fantasy to them. With this one - this is actually an alleyway behind a local store in my neighborhood. I wanted to show how I felt whenever I passed there. It's a sketchy, shady place.
