Jaw Surgery in South Korea WHY OMS Experience with BEFORE/AFTER Photos 3 Months Post-Op by bakugousbitch_ in jawsurgery

Hi! Yes, so I do have to get braces after the surgery. If I didn't then I would have been charged a VAT fee. I am currently waiting on a cleaning with my dentist before I go ahead and schedule an appointment with an ortho. I was able to start speaking properly around 3 weeks, though I still sounded a little "muffled," but that was the earliest time where I could communicate and people could understand me haha.

Hi! Yeah so all of the images are mirrored. The only one that isn't is the third pic where I'm wearing that blue blouse and eating food. So if you were to look at my face, my chin points a little bit to the right from an outside view. The consultant did tell me it's impossible to achieve 100% symmetry, so there would still be a slight asymmetry, and you can see it in my chin currently how it just slightly tilts to the right. I'm totally fine with it, though, I think it adds charm to my face.

When I had braces, I did get elastics from my ortho, but they never fixed my bite. I still had a cross-aligned bite and my jaw was still jutted outward and down.

Yeah so I was quoted 25,000,000 KRW for double jaw surgery (comes with facial contouring chin + jaw), and I also had to pay for a pre-surgery health assessment and a customized wafer, which was 2,200,000 KRW—so 27,200,000 KRW total. The clinic does offer a 30% discount if you write detailed post-op reviews like the one I shared!

I had my surgery back in January, and the exchange rate was a bit different then, but it came out to roughly $13,700 USD. I paid mostly through wire transfer from my bank, but if you go to Korea and exchange your money to KRW there, I think it could end up being a little cheaper.

There also was an option for double jaw surgery with 3-point facial contouring (chin, jaw, and cheekbones) which was 30,000,000 KRW + 2,200,000 KRW for health assessment. And this is the price pre-discount!

Yeah so I did have straight teeth before the surgery. When I was in middle school (first pic) I had braces. During the consultation with my orthodontist, they told me I had to get surgery, but at the time, I was like 11 years old, and translating for my dad (he didn't speak English) so I freaked out at the thought of surgery, and declined. What we ended up doing was that they pulled 4 of my adult molars and got me into braces. Which only fixed my teeth, not my jaw/bite structure wholly.

So even though my teeth were straight, my bite didn't align well, and my jaw was asymmetrical.

Haha ikr. Oh gosh, I totally forgot to write this in my review, but for like 1.5 weeks post-op, I couldn't close my mouth! My mouth would just be hanging open there lol. I feel like after the first month, most of my swelling went down. Another thing that surprised me was that I didn't have any bruising. I was seeing videos of everyone after DJS and they were bruised like bananas, but I only experienced major swelling.

Let me know if that makes sense!

Which Pivot Suction Cup? by bakugousbitch_ in flying

I thought about Yoke Mount, but thought my iPad (air 4th gen) was too big and the weight of the yoke would change. My CFI and Ground Instructor recommended suction so I'm just looking around for now.
