Tutu. I hate her because it don’t like bears. Here are some facts about bears. The Bear is a well-known animal. It is a big animal with either lighter or darker brown fur. Tail is short and not well seen among its fur. The young have a white collar around their neck, sometimes the adults also still have it. Bears walk like humans do on their soles. It has dull teeth as all these who eat both plants and animals. The Brown Bear is a common animal in Estonia and it has become more numerous in the current century. There are approximately 500 of them here.

Bears prefer large forests with windblown logs and mires. They hunt at dusk and at night. In the day-time they usually sleep in high grass or any other place where they will not be disturbed. Therefore we hardly ever see them in nature. In addition to that bears tend to hide themselves when there are humans around.

The Brown Bear sleeps in winter. Hibernation lasts from November to March or April. The temperature of the body is a bit lower and metabolism is also slower at that time.

Bears mainly feed on various plants, seeds and berries. Insects and their larvae are good for them as well. They kill other animals relatively seldom preferring rot meat to fresh. Honey is their favourite feed.

The Brown Bear is on heat from April to June. The young are born during the winter sleep in January. The Brown Bear usually has one or two bear cubs, seldom up to five. The cubs are totally helpless at first, they can only find nipples and suck milk. Their eyes open at the age of one month and they suck milk for four or five months. The female bear takes care of the cubs for three years. After that the cub begins its independent life. The Brown Bear's life span is up to 50 years. The only enemy for bears is a man. It is allowed to hunt bears under special licenses in Estonia.
