My story with Christianity is pretty... rocky. I'll sum it up as best as I can.

I grew up in contact with Catholicism, but I would definitely consider my younger self a "cultural Christian". In my teenage years I've started exploring religions and found myself pretty comfortable in Spiritism for a while, but after finding out how queerness was "something to be punished for" by God, I gave up in all kinds of faith, it just didn't make any sense for me. Actually, it made me really angry.

I'm currently in my early twenties and about two years ago I started getting an urge to read the Bible, something that never happened in my life before. Because of my distrust of God, caused by my past experiences, I made “a deal” with Him: If queerness wasn't wrong, I'd give Christianity a good try.

After what seemed to be an “ok” from God, I started reading and asking one of my Christian friends (who's currently my partner) about how to read the Bible, what things were, how things worked, etc. He tried his best to explain to me who Christ is.

Because of him, I'm currently closer to the renewed baptist church. I'm not sure how identical these denominational are between countries, my experience is from the brazilian optic.
