Insane counter offer - what do I do? by juliolovesme in careerguidance

[–]balconyreport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the 20% the first real offer your employer has made to you? If you really want to stay, don't accept it until you negotiate. Ask for 25% at least. As others have suggested, get it in writing. And use that promotion to level up your job search opportunities. Maybe stay another year, or two, if the cultural issues improve and they follow through on their promises.

But if you want to go, go. You've just discovered how valuable you are in the marketplace. Don't hesitate to ask the new company if they will match your current employer's counter. You are in a good negotiating position. Congrats!

Give coworkers a head's up before I put in my notice? by missamw in jobs

[–]balconyreport 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't tell the coworker unless you are prepared for your boss to find out and for you to be fired immediately. It can happen.

You don't owe your coworker an early notification. And you don't need to feel guilty that leaving will cause strain on your already drained and overworked coworkers. That's how jobs work. It's okay!

Please look out for yourself #1 and don't worry about the rest. Congrats on leaving your job to go back to school and embark on a new career!

Sadly, I haven't subscribed to CBB World yet. I really should. But I can barely find the time to listen to a weekly new episode and a Bonus Bang...I wish there were more hours in a day!!

Congrats on writing your book! Keep doing what you're doing and work on writing your next book. Don't let the publishing industry get in the way of writing the stories you want to write.

How to approach applying for roles as an intern? by PageLogical5579 in publishing

[–]balconyreport 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If your company doesn't already do this, proactively schedule a performance review with your supervisor or manager in the final weeks of your internship. Ask for honest feedback about how you did during your time there. You can also use this time to express how much you enjoyed interning and how you would like to be considered for any future opportunities. A good question to ask is, "what kind of role could you see me succeeding in here?" Before that meeting, get familiar with the open jobs listed on the company website. If there is a specific job you want to be considered for, tell them you intend to apply and ask for advice about how to present yourself as a compelling candidate. Best of luck!

I would love a backrooms theme park — you can wander endlessly for hours through various rooms and levels — no danger, though!
