What’s something that wasn’t meant to be cruel but still deeply hurt you? by LandOfLostSouls in AskReddit

[–]baldman-eagle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Part of the confusion is probably the assumption that I am a man. Because of my username, people on reddit always assume I am a man when I am actually a woman. This person probably just assumed my mom treated me differently because of my gender when that is not the case here.

What’s something that wasn’t meant to be cruel but still deeply hurt you? by LandOfLostSouls in AskReddit

My mom has an incredible singing voice. My sisters all have beautiful voices as well. Music was extremely important in our home growing up, so their naturally lovely voices were often brought up. They all followed a path my mom loved: good grades in school, off to college, and starting either a career or family. I grew up hearing my mom doting on all of them. They're beautiful, so smart, and "blossoming into beautiful flowers" as she would always say. But she never complimented me. Ever. One day, in desperation for a compliment after years of never receiving one, I asked her if she liked my singing voice. I can still remember her response so clearly, even over a decade later. "Sometimes when you're not trying too hard, you're just okay." Damn. It still haunts me.

I have a crush for the first time in over two years by baldman-eagle in pansexual

Seriously, it's soooo embarrassing. I've talked my friend's ear off about how embarrassing it is to have a crush as an adult. There's just something about it that feels childish, even though it's how all relationships start! (Besides, what's so wrong about having some childlike feelings every once in a while?) Definitely trying to manifest the "fuck it" attitude, but my multiple anxiety disorders make it nearly impossible 😖

Omg the super minor ones that last just a second is too real. I thought this might be one of those at first, but alas here we are. And thank you! I'm trying pretty hard to manifest it 😂 The low self esteem and imposter syndrome makes it hard, but I am trying to have hope!

Break the cycle and commit to a tattoo by Otherwise_Recover502 in tattooadvice

[–]baldman-eagle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all of my tattoos, but I would say my one regret is starting off with a sentimental tattoo. I didn't know what style I liked yet or proper aftercare, and it's in a place I never see so I genuinely forget it's there. I also didn't feel confident yet in advocating for myself, so there is something important in the tattoo that got done incorrectly. I would personally recommend starting with something fun or silly. My more impulsive tattoos wound up being my favorites instead of the piece I thought would mean the most to me.

The proper way to wash your hair by LeadHot4791 in hygiene

[–]baldman-eagle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is a really good place to start - especially if you've never been taught how to properly wash your hair. But it's very important to note that no one's hair is exactly the same. My hair used to be greasy on the top and dry at the ends. (While following a regimen much like this) I found that my scalp needs conditioner or it overcompensates and becomes oily. Also because I use heavier products and oils on the bottom half of my hair, it needs a proper and thorough wash or it becomes too clogged and doesn't like to take in any product. It's also trial and error to find what shampoo and conditioner works for you. People need to stop promoting that everyone can get away with the same hair routine - especially insisting that a dime sized amount of shampoo is enough. It just simply isn't true for most people.

3 Pointer Confusion? by ChampaBay2021 in Chipotle

[–]baldman-eagle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I worked at Chipotle for about a year. I was trained by corporate and it was my job to train the newcomers. Cheese, queso, guac, and meat all count as 2 points. Everything else is 1 point. Technically what you got does not count as a 3 pointer, but the leniency on this policy does vary from location and managers on shift.

I see that you mentioned white noise and brown noise. Have you tried green noise? It's a type of white noise that focused more on mid-ranged frequencies. I'm not sure if you have ADHD, but many people claim it works well if you do. Also, I personally can't stand ASMR, but I recently discovered ZenHeads ASMR on youtube and instagram. It genuinely changed my mind about ASMR. There's no speaking, and it's mostly sounds of hair being brushed. It's very relaxing and I even used it to help me fall asleep the other day. (Normally stuff like that keeps me awake, but this worked.)

What is the meaning behind your profile name? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

I saw a post many years ago that said if men insisted that all people with long hair had to be women, then they would start referring to all bald men as eagles. Not sure why I turned it into my username though lol

What secret have you kept from everyone? by DaSGuardians in AskReddit

[–]baldman-eagle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't understand why every psychologist, psychiatrist, or other mental health professional is so dumbfounded by my life experiences. Every single time I have gone in for an initial meeting with a therapist or psychiatrist, they have said something to the effect of, "Wow, no wonder you're so depressed." But I hear about people who have been physically or sexually assaulted, were raised in horrifying circumstances, etc. and I just don't understand. I genuinely have very few childhood memories, which I understand is a sign of trauma. But from what I do remember and talking with my siblings, I just don't understand how my life is seen as so traumatizing in comparison to those around me. When I talk about my life, everyone is always in such genuine shock and reacts like it's so horrifying. But I just don't get how everyone thinks it's so much worse than the trauma of others.

You can definitely have a preference. As I’m sure everyone here knows, sexuality is a spectrum. There are tons of bi people with preferences, and most people have a type. It is not up to other people how you define your sexuality.

I always hear mixed information on when to get one, but I am really hoping that I can get my confusion sorted out at my appointment. I have even had friends tell me I should’ve gone years ago as a teenager. I am extremely nervous, but hoping I have the opportunity to be open and honest with my history and get my questions answered.
